Been fishing everyday this week with clients, seems the morning is slow until after 9:00am or so, still some top water first thing around 5:30 - 6:00 am, with smaller fins and chug bugs, but most of these fish are small at best with one or two bigger fish mixed in with them. You will find a lot of surfacing action with these fish, all on main lake and secondary points in the backs of the big creek arms.

Started going back to some of my old hangouts in the big creek arms and still fish on all, just a little bit deeper. Most fish are coming out of 45 plus feet of water on structure of any kind.

Total for morning trip for Thursday 10 fish with 3 keepers. Went back out in the afternoon on Thursday with J.E VanNatta to play around in his boat, by the way thanks for the break JE it was fun, very hot but still a lot of fun. Found some really good fish in the deeper trees on spoons right off the bat. But you could only get two or three per tree, but they were fat spots all good keepers. Biggest problem was the tubers running around the main lake, waves were out of control.

Went back out on Friday AM, chased some whites around on top water and spoons, then went back to deep fishing for spots, found some good fish in the Indian Point area that lasted just an hour or so, then nothing, went down to cow creek and found some more in the trees, day ended not too bad..

Boy you can tell its the weekend, about 9:45am you could see the boats coming out of the marinas and condo resorts in very large amounts, looked like a parade.. We got out of there ASAP and went to the house..

Don are you vertical jigging your spoons? What color spoon

Ryan, I'm vertical jigging my spoons on 14 pound test. Sizes are from 1/2 to 3/4 ounce all white. There are some minor changes, like a more high performance Gami hook for better hook sets.

Sometimes I use the double trouble rig. I use a number 3 or 4 Gami treble hook on a oblong split rig, I run the main line threw the spoon eye and then I tie the split rig with the other hook onto the main line and then allow the spoon to float up and down the main line.

This setup will allow you to (1) catch more fish (less missed fish like a stinger hook) and (2) even better sometimes a double hookup. Give it a try!!
