Anyone ever fish this area called Rocky Creek Falls. What would you expect to find there. I think for all practical purposes its a hike in area of the Ozark Trails.

Dano,

are you refering to Rocky Falls down by Eminence...if so it's a neat place, more of a cascade than falls but is a pretty place.

don't know about fishing, pretty small creek except in the spring or during a rainy strech.

the locals use it allot...popular swimming hole...it's probably the largest cascade i've seen in Mo.

right now it will just be a trickle of what it can be though...if you ever visit it do so in the spring while there is decent water flow...pretty impressive then.

Not sure brownieman...here is a link to a story I read about it and also an associated hike. Sure looks like some good streams, but like you say its probably not worth a trip during low water.

Here are the directions as reported in the story.

From Springfield, MO, head east on Highway 60, through Willow Springs, to Winona and Highway 19. Turn north or left on Highway 19 and go about 12 miles to State Highway 106 and go right on 106 for almost 13 miles and cross bridge over Current River. First road on right leads to Owl's Bend campground and parking.

To get to Rocky Creek Falls from Owl's Bend campground, turn left on Highway 106 and cross bridge back over Current River. Take 106 a little over five miles to State Highway H and turn left on H. Follow H highway just under four miles to NN Highway and turn left. Follow NN a half mile to road on right with Rocky Creek Falls sign. Follow road to day use area.

I've been there a few times. Very beautiful. As far as fishing the only place really to fish is the pool right below the falls. Lots of little sunnies but thats about it. I'm sure there is a smallie or two but they are probably so spooked by all the swimmers it would be really tough to catch them. The rest of the creek is very little and lots of overhanging trees.

Dano,

just looked at the pic in that article...thats' it.

i have some good pics thru a macro lens of some tiny little floweres called 'Rock Pink'...they were growing right out of the cracks in the rocks about half way up the right side of the cascade.

is a nice place to hike...FB is about right on the fishing.

have you ever visited 'Grand Gulf" it's also a cool spot ?

Rocky falls is on Rocky creek up from the Current river. The creek is very small, and nearly drys up in the summer. The falls are great to visit after a heavy shower, it is site to be seen w/ heavy run off, but as far as fishing goes, I wouldn't waste my time trying to fish any part of Rocky creek, to small and too many other good fishing on the river.

We have a cabin on the current river not far from there, and if we are there during a rainy day we will ofter visit the falls to see the site.
