Took my three girls fishing. I wanted them to experience the opening whistle and everything. 5:00am came early but they were ready to get going. I ask my bro to go with us so it was just the five of us. We got some donuts from Buds and headed down. We got our tags and went down to the fly area. There wasn't very many down there. The upper part looked to have a bunch of people so the fly area was the best bet. Got them to the river and after answering a bunch of questions and explaining waiting for the whistle we were set. My girls are 5,7 and 9 years old. There are a bunch of things that we have to work on. They have casting down very well but setting the hook needs a lot of work. They did very well. I would get a fish on my fly rod and they would work it in. I had 2lb test on and they didn't break any off. My oldest is very interested in fly fishing. I'm going to start working on it with her first. She wanted on her own accord to watch the way I was fishing and how the fish were biting. They did spend a little time exploring the river and the "lobsters" as my youngest called them were very interesting. I plan on taking them down this weekend also. Overall grades. Fishing A, Catching C, Spending time with my girls. A++++.

I bet that was a blast. The girls are at a good age for that experience. I have good memories with my three daughters at RR when they were younger.

I raised 2 daughters, one was a tomboy the other a barbie, lol

my youngest (the tomboy) caught a 7 lb largemouth when she was 9 on one of my freinds small private lakes. She was using one of those close face snoopy kid rods...she caught the fish on a lucky 13 and we were in a canoe.

She wanted me to take the rod but I made her fight it up to the boat then I lipped the fish for her before we took some pics and turned it loose. I thought it was going to break that little rod but i wanted her to fight it...and she did well. She did not want to keep or mount the fish because she did not want the fish to die...thinkin maybe i done good, lol.

I still have the pic on my wall and she has a blownup copy of it on her wall...now I have to try to do the same with my gson...it's a little harder now, that was 20 yrs ago and with the decline of fish i can only hope to do the same for him...if we don't it won't be for lack of effort although I have also declined somewhat...'golden years'...yeah right, in some aspects anyway, lol.
