Leonard Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 I call the dam at 6pm... water was off.. so I made dinner and headed to the water.. got there almost 6:45... 2 units on.. well I ran in to Darrel (from river run) as useally he was catching fish.. he's hook up about every cast, bringing in about 2 out 5 fish.. He helped me with a bit of set up (being I dont have that much daytime stuff).. I slipped in to chute 2 first few drifts was some good takes... we were using a scud and a sj worm, at the end he landed a nice 19 3/4in brown (we taped it!!) well I ended up with about 8 fish between 6:30pm and 8 or just after.. the shut the water down about 7:30pm... took a short break (getting the night gear on) about a 30 minute until it got good and dark and went back at it... as I walk down the stairs, a guy was standing there fishing.. ask him if he would like to fish together for a little bit so we procede to the big hole.. we fished with a little bit of everything and the key pattern seemed to be the pine squirrel (unweighted!!), well after a bit I put on the good ol' mohawk sculpin.. after a few hook up and alot of hits I called him down to fish it awhile... Almost every cast was 2-4 strikes the action was awesome.. but with out the hook ups.. he then got the hang of it and we headed to the flats... 2nd cast fish on for me... 3rd, 4th, and 5th fish on again... so I him come dowm and take over my spot.. there action was still going on the mohawk... I think he ended up with a few (not sure how many) I ended up with 10 or so fish... but most of the time was standing there visiting with him... Rick... It was great meeting and fishing with you last night.. hope to do it again soon!! Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com
Members RickM Posted August 19, 2007 Members Posted August 19, 2007 Leonard, Thanks for the help and pointers last night. Now if I can just figure out how to hook'um, and keep the hook in them....lol. With all the taps I got, it felt like I was perch fishing. I just couldn't seem to get the hook to stick. Oh well, I guess I need to go again and practice....hehe. See ya later, and thanks again. Rick
