Members indyfisher Posted January 27, 2006 Members Posted January 27, 2006 Good day Table Rock anglers, I'm looking for some help. I'm from Indiana and will be vacationing at Table Rock on the first week of April. I'm staying at the Whitewing resort (Indian pt. Jacques Creek side) and only have an 17' aluminum boat w/ 10 hp Johnson, so I have to stay in that area and fish. Just wondering if anyone could give any hints on where to fish (bass) and the best tackle/presentations to use. I came out last year a week earlier, the weather was nasty 40's w/ rain, only managed 2 bites in 4- days, but 1 was a 5.1 large mouth (on a wiggle wart) and the other was a 3.2 Kentucky ( on a brush hog water melon seed). So if any kind soul could help me out, it would be much appreciated. Oh, also if possible maybe a crappie spot, so I can take my girlfriend out and catch some dinner! Thanks and keep fishing!
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 The east side, Jakes creek? If so several of the coves with timber should have Crappie in them. We fish with a float and a jig when were searching. As far as Bass, the docks, chunk rock banks, and the points. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Sam Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Indyfisher - If the weather cooperates, you're coming at a great time. Look up the Tablerock map on this web site - "Indian Point and north of the Dam". That's ALL good fishing water for bass and crappie. You won't have to go far in your boat, there's lots of good water nearby. The bass and crappie should both be staging at that time. For bass, look for rocky banks, points, and drop-offs near pea-gravel banks. For crappie it's the same kind of gravel banks, but look especially for flooded timber in all those coves with shallow spawning areas at the ends. Watch what the other boats are doing, for both bass and crappie. You'll catch 'em.
