tippet7 Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 These were taken over the last few days on a trail cam my buddy installed at the place we will be hunting this fall. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
Terry Beeson Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Could you email me the coordinates to that stand tippet? I would like to get a close up of the camera and how it works.... Nice pics of nice bucks!!! I'd be anxious to get down there for a close encounter!!! Is that the CuddeBack with the night vision that doesn't use a flash? It does LOOK like a flash... I've got to get my trail cam set up but it won't happen before I hunt the area this weekend. Before I leave, I'll set up the cam and post the pictures of all the coons, guinaes, coyotes, spikes, and forked horned bucks that will pass by my stand... flyfshn Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Hey!!!! I thought you were going to Conclave this weekend! Fish On! Mike Utt “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. vonreed Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 That split-tine buck that's the biggest is sure a nice shooter buck. But he still looks pretty young. I can only imagine what it would look like next year or the next. That's sure a dandy.
tippet7 Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 Could you email me the coordinates to that stand tippet? I would like to get a close up of the camera and how it works.... The GPS coordinates are pretty simple....go to the road down yonder, take a right, take the 3rd road to the left after you pass the dead oak (make sure its the DEAD oak, not the live one or you will get lost) take the dirt road back about 3/4 of mile, do a u turn and get out. walk to the treestand about 300 yards. I am not sure about the camera, i think it does have a flash. i was just out at the site an hour ago looking around and had 7 turkey run out in front of me. BANG BANG You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
Terry Beeson Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 HEY HEY HEY!!!! WAIT JUST A DOGGONE MINUTE.... THOSE are the coordinates to MY stand.... Oh... wait... there is one step you left out... When you come to the fork in the road.... Take it... I have to think a bunch of turkeys coming in front of my stand would be in eminate danger... Hey... come this weekend, I don't care... I'll stick fur or feathers... whichever comes by first... Yes, I'm going to Conclave... My deer camp and stand are only 22 miles from the fairgrounds... TroutBum4wt Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Those are some great looking bucks. I bow hunted in Texas County this past weekend and all I got was bug bites. Good luck this fall!! "Where There Are Trout, There's Hope" - John Gierach
vonreed Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 All I can do is fling arrows at them darn turkeys. It seems impossible to get a shot at a turkey from a stand. Now out of a blind would be different, but I like to be perched up high for deer. I guess that's why I take the bazooka out for turkeys instead of the bow. Although shooting one with a bow would be rewarding, I'm not gonna hold my breath.
Terry Beeson Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Do you practice with your bow from a height or only on level ground? Get up in the air and get a turky target or something similar when you practice. You'll be surprised what you can do after a few sessions like that. You should not limit your bow practice to only level ground (not saying you do, but just saying for general information...) You'll find your shots at deer and anything else from a tree stand will improve if you have practiced from that angle. Hey... we need to be posting on the ozarkhunters.com forum! There's not much going on over there right now... vonreed Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Terry, I do practice from up high (off my chicken house). It's not the fact that I can't hit a turkey, it's the fact that they're too wary and their eyes are too good to draw back on one without them seeing me out of a treestand. But shooting high is something I'd recommend for anyone who bowhunts.
