CMAC Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Went there this weekend (branson), had the chicken fried steak rib dinner. I was impressed despite the one SPFD going out of business.
flyfshn Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 CMAC, Shorty Smalls is one of my favorite places to eat when visiting that area! Fish On! Mike Utt “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. CMAC Posted October 2, 2007 Author Posted October 2, 2007 Man was it good. Those ribs were so tender and the chicken fried steak as I was told by the waitress was only a half order! Hate to see what the full order looks like. Maybe they give you a T-shirt if you eat it! $50 for me and the wife with several cocktails. Not real bad.
Terry Beeson Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 The three key words in the restaurant business are "Location, location, and location!!" and Shorty Smalls in Branson proves that's not always the case. I've eaten at SS in Little Rock for over 30 years. One of the best chains out there in my opinion. Can't believe it didn't go over in Springfield. CMAC Posted October 3, 2007 Author Posted October 3, 2007 Beeson, I thought the location is somewhat hard to find? It don't make sense. Speaking of location the one in SPFD wasn't bad, visable, easy to get to... I am not much on chains, but I will eat at that one and the Longhorn's Steak House where I live.
WebFreeman Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Seems like w/ the Spfd. location there was something about food poisoning or health dept. or something. I can't remember. You would think it was a good location, but I don't think the Pasta House, which replaced, is doing all that well. It never seems busy. Springfield's restaurant market is so oversaturated it's crazy. That's one industry I wouldn't want to be in. “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
CMAC Posted October 3, 2007 Author Posted October 3, 2007 Food Poisoning?? Interesting... Over-saturated is the truth! There is a restaurant on every corner. It is truly amazing. Kind of like Rio Bravo, how many restaurants have been in that building.
Terry Beeson Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I thought the location is somewhat hard to find? It don't make sense. That's what I mean. Branson's Shorty Smalls location defies all logic. The first time I went there, my cousin was living in Branson and I thought she was crazy going down that road to find a Shorty Smalls... Wayne SW/MO Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Its another of the traps, IMO you can find better ribs at a better price within blocks on the same road. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Terry Beeson Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Yeah... Nobody goes there anymore... it's too crowded... Thought you'd like that one, Wayne... Looking at your signature... One other drawback is that it gets late very early out there... I was going there one time and my wife said "we're lost"... and I replied "yeah... but we're makin' good time..." (Nobody like Yogi.... Well... Casey Stengall, but nobody like those two... ) Where ya been hidin', Wayne? Haven't seen you on here in a while?
