Wayne SW/MO Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Yeah... Nobody goes there anymore... it's too crowded... True, but it is in Branson. Ever eat at Danna's at the bottom of the hill, just past the church? It used to be a well kept secret, especially before the old one burned down. Been in and out of state, but its been a slow year. Like Yogi said, "The future ain't like it used to be" The Farm House downtown has a great Chicken Fry, but the it can be crowded too. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
vanven Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Just thought I would add my 2 cents. We have eaten at the Shorty Smalls a couple of times in Branson. On both occasions the portion size was obnixiously large, the service great, but the food very disappointing. As a BBQ spoiled KC boy, the BBQ was horrible. There are a lot of other little gems in the area when you can get a much nicer meal for $50 for two. -Jerod
zsmith62 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 WebFreeman isn't the only one who heard about shorty's gettin closed in Springfield for food poisoning.... my mother who works in the restaurant business in springfield had heard the same thing. Zach Smith
Danoinark Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Seems like w/ the Spfd. location there was something about food poisoning or health dept. or something. I can't remember. Naw...they just didn't have cashew chicken on the menu..... Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Don Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 The last time I dined out in Branson was Shorty Smalls a few months ago. The ribs seemed like they wer slow roasted in the oven instead of spending alot of time on a smoker. The one thing I cook the most here at home is smoked baby back ribs and spare ribs. I always dry rub and wrap them for 24 hours and slow smoke them on the green egg. I can't get enough of them. Absolutely no complaints about Shorty's ribs. They were fall-off-the-bone tender, the sauce was excellent, the sides were good, and the service was great. I've also eaten at Danna's. I reccommend them if you haven't had the chance to try them. Don May Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
soggyfeet Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Never tried Shortys but the last time we ate in branson(2 years ago) we went to Landrys ( I think thats the name). We thought it was great place (stuffed like a tick when we left for about 50 bucks) Brian
Don Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Never tried Shortys but the last time we ate in branson(2 years ago) we went to Landrys ( I think thats the name). We thought it was great place (stuffed like a tick when we left for about 50 bucks) I ate there many years ago outside on the deck on a pleasant evening as the sun went down. I guess it was pretty good since I remember to this day. Don May Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Trav Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Shortys is nothing but another corporate restaraunt. Like Applebees, Chilis, Rubys, or Romanos. They are all subject to good or bad management. Landrys on the other hand is a Branson staple. I would put them on the top 10 places to eat in the Ozarks. I can say that with my 15+ years of prior experiance as a fine-dining Chef. damselfly Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 when we moved to SPFLD - 30 years ago- the realtor told us SPFLD was a test market for restaurants/chains.....don't know if it's really true, but when you look around on every corner....it makes you wonder..
KATroutman13 Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 The one time I've eaten there I was very disappointed.
