Pour Dennis Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I hear alot of people throwing spoons. I do not own any and want to give it a try. What are some basic colors, weights and brands of spoons to get started with? Thanks in advance. Dennis
CMAC Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Don't really know bout' brands, but colors can range from white, silver, chart., white/chart., white with sparkle...mostly 3/4 oz and 1/2 oz.
Fishing Buddy Don House Posted October 2, 2007 Fishing Buddy Posted October 2, 2007 Pour Dennis, I use a spoon called Hawg Jaw, I think they are made by Hazy Dazy Lures. You can find them at Ozark Bait and Tackle in Kimberling City or on Rick's strikebass web site, just about any spoon will do when they are on it good, Bass Pro has some and they are about 20 other companies out there that sell them. I use only 1/2 and 3/4 ounce all white spoons, they seem to work the best. I have used all silver and all chart, but white wins out.. The ones that I use have a really good shape and don't get hung as much as others. Size and color are the big thing for spooning on Table Rock.. Good Luck and Good Fishing Capt. Don Capt. CMAC Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Don are those the shorter stubbier spoon with the dimples that press out? When you say hung as much as others are you refering to trees or the spoon fowling up on itself (which is always a pain)??
Fishing Buddy Don House Posted October 2, 2007 Fishing Buddy Posted October 2, 2007 Yes, those are the ones.. Any they don't hang up on them self as much, trees well most of the time you can pop them out with ease, another reason why I like a heaver spoon. Don't really know why but they seem to work better than any other ones I have tried, and I have tried alot.. Good Fishing Guys Capt. Don Capt.
