Members RainbowHunter Posted October 3, 2007 Members Posted October 3, 2007 Anybody got an idea what it's like down there right now or what might be working this time of year? My dad, grandad, and I are going to be heading down for the weekend and I was wanting to know what kinda flies I need to be tying before we leave. Thanks
Steve Smith Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 After the storms last night, the river is up about a foot or so. Both falls are running full, and the water is a bit off-color, but not milky. By the weekend, the color will probably clear up. I went down at lunch, and the fish were definitely midging at the end of Zone 2. As far as what to use... I saw some nice fish caught on olive zebra midge fished shallow. Stop by Tim's for the latest ___________________________ AKA Flysmith - Cassville MO
timsfly Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 The river should clear up pretty quick, last week it came up a foot over night and was back to almost normal in 2 days. Fishing has been great on zebra midges, small scuds, brassies, pheasant tails and on small burlaps. You can always catch trout on small woolybuggers and cracklebacks, and we are still catching alot of fish on hoppers, ants, beetles, elk hair caddis, adams, griffiths gnats and on small lt cahills in the evening. The fishing has been really good the past 4 weeks, and this bit of water should just make it better. Members RainbowHunter Posted October 4, 2007 Author Members Posted October 4, 2007 Great! Thanks for the tips...I'll definitely be stopping by your shop Tim to browse the selection and see what other things I can find that I probably don't need, but most likely will make up an excuse to need! I hate when I do that.
Steve Smith Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I stopped and fished last night for a couple of hours. Green woolies, black & olive zebra midges, and cracklebacks. It didn't matter. A lot of stockers, but had two nice bows. It should be a great weekend to fish. ___________________________ AKA Flysmith - Cassville MO
