DeepDiver75 Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Had a great time at Conclave. The weather was good, the fishing was great and I ended up with some great company to spend the weekend with. Camped at HisPlace Resort with a couple other OAF folks and some of their friends who were kind enough to invite me to stay with them. Enjoyed meeting some of you for the first time at Conclave, lots of really nice people (and some exceptional tiers!) made for a great event. My only problem was splitting my time between the great fishing and the event (the fishing won out I'm sorry to say) so I didn't participate in as much as I had hoped. All in all a wonderful weekend and best of all I made some new friends to share this wonderful sport with.
flyfshn Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Jeff, it was a pleasure meeting you and Don, Kevin, Chuck and Steve. What a great weekend.....only regret was not making it to Conclave. This was the first time my son and I have ever been to the White and we were so excited when we arrived Friday afternoon, that we immediately headed for the water. Saturday they only had 1 generator running, so we fished all morning and my son was having such a good time, he wanted to go back out on Saturday afternoon, so we missed it. Was really looking forward to meeting Terry B, John Berry and others that post on here, but like Terry said.....Sow Bug is only 6 months away! Fish On! Terry Beeson Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Nice to meet you and talk with you DD... Yep... that's the only problem with Conclave... If the fishing is good, you can't spend enough time at either the river or the fairgrounds... One of these days, I'm going to spend a week down there and fish before and after... Did anyone go to the auction and buy a bunch of stuff? Don Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 It was a good trip, Good to see all of the familiar faces and meeting a few others. Deepdiver and Flyfishn, it was a pleasure meeting you guys and I'm looking forward to more fishing trips. Conclave was cool. I'm not a fly collector but some collector flies were amazing. I noticed two tyers Saturday tying right next to each other. One was 95 years old and the other was 14 years old. How cool. Zach, thanks for expalining the smallmouth pattern to me. John, thanks for the green butt. The TFO reps fielded alot of questions for me. Project Healing Waters and Casting For a Cure were both there for real good causes. There was too much there to digest in just a few hours. As far as fishing goes, I didn't tear em' up so to speak. I waded the White and pick up a handful for a few hours Friday and Saturday during generation. Only a dozen yesterday and a half a dozen today on the Norfork. Fished handicap today for three hours. Things were tough until I picked up three quick fish on an olive mohair leech until the storm blew through. Terry, did you hunt any more since Friday? I need a story. Time went too fast the last four days. Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
