Members pomme geezer Posted October 17, 2007 Members Posted October 17, 2007 Hey Hey Hey Went out Sun. for a few hours and did pretty well Caught 3 Bass in the 3-4 lb range. Started out with a Buzz bait caught 2 and lost a really good one He wrapped me around a tree. I hate it when they do that. Then switched to a Spinnerbait and caught a few more. I think the top water bite is finally starting. The water temp. is 71 deg. and the water was a little cloudy. My neighbor the dedicated crappie fisherman told me the bite is hit or miss. He was catching them in 15-20 ft. using Char. jigs. The ones he caught were all NICE fish. There not schooled up yet. He would catch a few and then have to move to a new spot, and would catch a few more. You just have to keep moving. The Muskies have somewhat turned off, a few are being caught but nothing spectacular. Must still be shook up from the Musky tourney. Until the next time Good fishing and good BEER The "Geeze"
Members Nitro FIsh Posted November 6, 2007 Members Posted November 6, 2007 Any new updates to this report? I'm headed to the lake this weekend and was wondering how the bass bite is doing.
Members hoover25 Posted November 6, 2007 Members Posted November 6, 2007 Hey there, From what I have heard the lake is fixin' to turn over....good luck. I would go look for shad and troll through them. Or maybe throw a jig in deeper water. Also, you could always troll for the toothy critters over the flats.
Members Nitro FIsh Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 Thanks for the reply, I'll keep those tips in mind. Any area of the Lake more productive this time of year versus another?
Members hoover25 Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 I would try up the pomme river the turn-over does'nt seem to effect it as much as the main lake area. Good Luck
Members Nitro FIsh Posted November 9, 2007 Members Posted November 9, 2007 Thanks, I'll give the Pomme River arm a try!
Daddy Carp Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Hey Amish, are they catching any walleye off the main points yet? With 50 degree surface, I figure the bass & crappie are suspended about 20'- 25' in structure. The walleye and muskies should be moving in shallower off the points. Have you had the warm weather (50's/60's) like we have on Taney? Haven't heard much from Pomme Geezer of late. He must have finally got his stove lit rubbing 2 sticks together (stick matches, he cheated). If he's got a fire going, he won't leave the warmth til spring-thaw! LOL
Amish Bill Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Hey CD I can't tell you a thing about Pomme right now. I did get out for a little bit yesterday, but I went to Stockton and tried trolling at the dam for walleye, first pass over the old coffer dam and line started peeling, thought man I have found em, it was a big white bass. Right after that the wind picked up big roller waves and decided it was time for the house. Had fun and enjoyed just be on the water. "Life's too short to fish with a dead minner..."
Trav Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 My Father lives and breathes Pomme (since he lives in Urbana) and he swears that trolling is the only way to go. The only times I fish Pomme is with him a few times a year so you can guess what we do. He seems to have a method to his madness (catches plenty of Musky) but I am preferably a structure kind of guy. Guess I like the hum of a Minn-Kota over the rumble of a Johnson outboard. Anyway, is trolling the only Musky money-maker on Pomme as my dear old Dad believes? Amish Bill Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Hi Trav: I can't help you much on the musky, but yes I understand the best way to catch Musky is trolling for them. I have heard of someone ocasionally catching one while bass fishing but not often. A friend was telling me he was crappie fishing off his dock this fall and there was several Musky around his dock but no crappie ( Go Figure ) I mainly crappie fish when I'm on Pomme, but seem to catch a lot of green carp AKA Bass. Oh well they still make pretty good filets. Hope I helped some on your question....AB "Life's too short to fish with a dead minner..."
