zander Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 So yesterday afternoon we got the results of my wife's MRI's on her pancreas back. After a week of preparing ourselves for the worst possible news, we recieved the best possible news in that the MRI showed everything was perfectly normal and definately not cancer. Thanks to God and all of those on the board that prayed for us. In the previous week to get my mind off of all the potential bad stuff that may come I decided to spend lots of money getting into fly-fishing at BassPro. Unfortunately they don't sell "skills" at BassPro so when I headed down to Taney last night at sundown in a celebratory mood, I quickly found out how totally different fly-fishing is than regular angling. After catching my pole several times, a couple bunches of moss, and a couple of three second fights with ghost fish I was wondering how much longer before I was going to pack it in. Just then a fellow came down the steps at Outlet 2 and asked if he could fish next to me. After watching him fish almost the same place I had been for thirty minutes and catching 6 fish, I realized this guy knows what he's doing. Turns out it was Leonard and I really can't say what a nice helpful guy he is. He helped set me up and even showed me the infamous PMS fly and watched him catch a 21 inch brown on his first stripping cast. I ended up with some beginning skills, caught 2 rainbows and a little brownie, and had a fantastic time, eventually calling it quits around 12:30 AM. Thanks to Leonard and the other folks from this board I met last night at Taney. I'm sure everyone reading this has had one of those kind of really great days fishing and last night was definately mine. Phillip Taylor

Members Flatlander Posted October 19, 2007 Members Posted October 19, 2007 Zander, I am happy to hear you and your wife got a good report. I also had a scare with my pancreas. Turned out my gall bladder wasn't functioning and messed me up pretty bad for a while. Better now. I met up with Leonard for the first time on October 3rd. I had a similar experience after Leonard took a bit of time with me. He showed me how much I really didn't know about night fishing. After just a few minutes reteaching me, Leonard had me catching fish --- lots of fish. Everyone I meet know in Wichita, KS who is going to Taney to do some night fishing gets the, "Hire Leonard to guide you for the first few hours" speach. Tight lines!
