troutchaser Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I've heard several reports about Fur Bugs in peach and orange, but I have no idea what it looks like. Any pics or recipes? I'm extremely curious. Paul Rone
timsfly Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I tie mine on a #16 or smaller hook most of the time, I use left over glo-bug yarn to tie mine. I tie red or orange thread on the hook, make a dubbing loop, cut the dubbing to length and put it in the loop, twist the guts out of it and wrap in on the hook, this will make a nice little buggy fly, don't use to much dubbing, a little goes a long way, I don't have a camera here today or I would send you a pic. troutchaser Posted October 19, 2007 Author Posted October 19, 2007 Are you kidding me? I've been making those for years, but I never gave 'em a name. I hated the fact that I was wasting as much egg yarn as I was using, so I started saving it in ziploc bags. I've used it for dubbing on soft hackles and woolly buggers as well as on a hook by itself. I just called it the leftovers fly. Fur bug is much better. Paul Rone
timsfly Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Yeh it is hard to throw the leftover egg yarn away, I think I have enough for a king size pillow right now But whatever you call em, furbugs or yarn bugs or whatever they work well at all the state parks and taney.
