Members hawkeye Posted October 28, 2007 Members Posted October 28, 2007 i wanted to thank everyone who helped me out with the trolling guestions that i had. we had an great fishing trip and hope to have a couple more before winter freezes me to home. we caught about 55 of 60 trout from cooper creek all the way down to powersite dam. we tried it all still caught the most on two power eggs. only used orange, white and chatruse.here is my rig if it can help anyone. i use a 3/16 slip sinker two plastic beads and four of the rubber sinker stops and make a six foot leader and tie on a #8 hook. baitholder, walleye or circle hook i like red . put on the two eggs each a different color. if i hook a fish deep or swallowed i just cut the line and let him go. slide everything up and tie on another hook . its fast too.try it works well. thanks to all again david
Thom Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Hawkeye: Where did you get the smaller red circle hooks? I had such good luck with hooking up fishing for specks, whiting and sand trout on the Texas coast that I thought of trying them for crappie and possibly tying flies for trout. I couldn't find circle hooks smaller than #2 especially in red. I am sure that they are made. The thing I like about circle hooks was that the fish are mostly hooked in the side of the mouth makeing catch and release much easier. Anyone? Thom Harvengt
