250.00 for the Simms and 169.00 for the Cabelas Dry Plus I looked at. Are the Simms worth it. Are the L2's OK?... I know they are the cheaper Simms.

I don't own Simms waders but I do know that the quality of their waders is second to none (neither is the price though). Many folks will tell you they are the only brand to buy and I can't argue with their reasoning. Now I do presently wear a pair of Cabela's Guide-Tech waders and am very happy with them. This is about my 3rd set of waders from Cabela's in 10 years( I fish often and fairly hard so my waders see quite a bit of use all year long) and the thing that keeps me going back is that if I ever had a problem I simply took them back and they replaced them for me free of charge no questions asked. I guess I'd have to say that they are both good products, so make your decision based on what you have to spend and what suits your needs best. Hope this helps with your decision.

while talking about waders~~is there anything that should be done to waders at the end of a fishing season?? any lubricant?? anything to keep them from cracking? thanks

Simms L2 is a great lightweight wader, its the cheapest model made from GoreTex, which means not only is it constructed from GoreTex materials, the factory has to pass Gore standards of workmanship etc etc etc.

Lightweight basically means its going to wear out faster than the heavier models given the same use. Now I used an earlier pair of lightweights for 3 years at what I'd describe at normal fishing levels 20 days a year, (once every couple of weeks) no problems at all.

But if your fishing at least once a week there is a strong argument for heavier (more expensive) waders, to cope with the wear and tear.

As for Simms being expensive sure their high end are, but check out the Blackfeet $149, very good value, very tough.

Cheers

keep your eye on ebay. Alot of shops are closing out their simms '06 stuff, so you can find some great deals. Also, just do some online shopping.

What is this "end of season" that you speak of? The fishin's just getting good!

A little more on-topic: I purchased my pair of Orvis Silver Label2 waders from ebay (brand new: closeout). They've taken me through a fishing season very well, and Orvis's customer service is exceptional (they fixed my boneheaded mistake!).

Just a thought

My opinion is that Simms are the best value in waders even though they are a little more expensive. I have a pair of the old Simms lightweights - the predecessor to the L2's and they are great. I've used them hard for 2 years now with no problems. Prior to that I wore out a pair of $100 waders every year.

Greg is right about the Simms, they can take it...

I was born at night, but not last night.

Odds are with the prepared...

Thanks for all the info, guys!! I think I would be happy with the Cabellas but for 50 bucks more I'm going to try the Simm's I guess. I only fish about 25 or 30 days a year so they should last me a long time I would think.

My wife, Lori, has been wearing the L2s for over a year and is quite happy with them.
