rcguy Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 this looks like one heck of a deal. $99 for a 199.00 Redington RS3 rod. I'm looking at a 4 wt 9 footer 4 piece as a nice backup rod. Is this a good rod?
The Caddis Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 The answer to that question is always yes, you need that rod! How many pairs of shoes does she own? Purses? this list could go on and on.
rcguy Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 LOL.I'm about to hit the buy button unless someone says these are junk!
Greg Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I'm sorry to tell you I bought that very rod except mine is an 8.5 ft 4 wt. I don't think you can get a better deal for a hundred bucks. rcguy Posted November 30, 2007 Author Posted November 30, 2007 Well, I did it. I had 10 bucks off and they took it over the internet so I ended up free shipping. So 99 bucks total. I hope I like it. The reviews look like it is good. Especially for 99 bucks.
Rusty Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I wouldn't have one if you gave it to me. Don't do it!!!! But then again, I could be joking. hahaha You made a good decision.
rcguy Posted December 3, 2007 Author Posted December 3, 2007 Rusty, You got me on that one, man!!! Real good!
rcguy Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 Got the rod yesterday. those Chinese make a beautiful rod. It's a9 ft 4 weight. It's snowing out so no practice. I also have a Gloomis GL3 4wt. 8ft 6 in. I put both rods together in the basement and played around with then a little. To my suprise the`RS3 is just slightly slower than the loomis. The Loomis is considerably thinner but the RS3 only weighs 3 grams more.. GL3= 94grams RS3=97grams I think this is going to be a nice rod!
Paola Cat Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 RC ... How'd that RS3 work out for you? PC Cheers. PC
rcguy Posted January 8, 2008 Author Posted January 8, 2008 Well, other than wiggling it around in the basement, I've not gotten to cast it yet. Bad weather, out of town, or something!! I feels like a very nice med fast action. even though it is a fatter blank, it weight the same as my Loomis 4 weight GL3. I think I'm gonna like it. This one is a 4 wt 9 footer. 6 inches longer than my Loomis. We'll see. Trying to get down to Bennett some monday here soon to try it out. We always baby sit the Grandbaby on the weekends so I'm thinking monday would be good to go. I notice you have been going down there quite regularly. Did they get lots of rain last night???...to mess up the fishing
