got up this morning... looked out and it was pretty nasty looking, then it got light and the trees were iced up but the road was just wet... now the preacher called [from Galmey pomme de terre] and cancelled church just in case. Honest Tom Trtan on chanel 10 is talking about slick roads and another major ice storm. Do you think everyone is still a little skidish from last January? Just a thought... I'm bored.....AB

Hi AB, Yes pretty much the same for me hear,near Eureka Mo on I44.Tonight temps go lower and rain is predicted...soo freezing rain is very possible.

On the bright side tho;

1-The freezing rains of last year brought down a lot of weaker limbs.

2-The power co. sent out crews really butchering trees back removing trees/limbs from anywhere near power lines.

3-The Amish probably can tolerate the simpler way of life better the rest of use...maybe there is a lesson to be learned.

Best Regards,Bruce

Guess it may be headed this way in a big-way! It all depends on which way this next storm tracks. I talked to neighbors by my place on Pomme de Terre this afternoon. They said that Wheatland area on hwy 54 and Pittsburg on hwy 64 were without power for some time due to the ice storm. She said it was about 3/4 - 1" thick on trees & stuff.

I just spoke with my daughter (30 mi. north of Topeka,Ks.) where my son-in-law serves as a PD dispatcher. They are preparing for a possible 2"-3" of ice tonight and tomorrow morning. At present, it is 31 deg. and dry up there. I guess yesterday's ice pretty much took the same path as last year's but a few miles wider. The storm over Olk, Tx & the southwest is the one to watch. It should be in the area after mid-night. May really slam us here in Branson area or go farther north and pretty well miss Springfield area. Either way, my dock on Pomme is gonna get it, got my fingers crossed!! God Bless...D.C. :cold::crywithno:

Well, so far it went like I figured it would. The worst ice went up through Wichita,Ks. Manhattan/Topeka and on into Neb/Ia. I spoke with my kids about 1:00p today. They had about 1" of ice 30 mi. North of Topeka, power outage all over the state and cell-phone use almost shut down due to icing on the towers and power to the repeaters. They said that the next storm was just comming in and would take the same path. According to the weather service it would be more intense & severe. They are burrowed in & staying warm. Wish those people up there much luck, it could have been us with just a slight change of the winds!

We dodged the bullet alright, feel sorry for the folks out there and hope it clears out fast for them. On the other side your dock was saved on pommie, had some friends lost their dock and 2 boats last January, as they said nothing money can't fix... anyway we can pray for your kids and praise God they're alright.

I'm in Saint Joseph MO and we got a pounding last night... took a pretty good one through the day as well but now I'm sitting here at work (1 of about 5 people to show out of close to a 1000 on this shift) wishing I had stayed home but atleast here I have power and heat ooooh and a warm shower!!!! Gotta remember to catch one of those before I go home. Supposed to maybe get even worse before morning though with winds coming tomorrow morning as well. had to spend almost 2 hours with the chain saw just to clear the street so I could get here tonight. I hate to think it will all be back or worse when I get home again.
