Amish Bill Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I was hoping to find a place close that might not be as busy as the bigger lakes, I've lived here all my life but never tried this lake before,so forgive me for these questions in advance....What kind of fish are in here, I'm interested in crappie, cats, and walleye.I also beleive there's a h.p. limit so I probably won't be using my boat , so can you rent boats from the marina? zander Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I have fished the lake a few times. You can rent a boat from the marina. It is definately a rental boat, I don't care for them all that much but they float and move and are small enough to be legal so what can you do? There are a lot of catfish in there and crappie too. There a lot of pictures of walleye in the marina but I have never caught any. As far as depth, I think I remember my fish finder saying 85', could have been 65' though at the deepest.

troutchaser Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 If you're into panfish, it's a great little lake. The H.P. limit is 40 horses and you have to register your boat every year. It isn't expensive, it just has to be done. There are bass in there, they are just difficult to find. There's muskies in there, too. I've never caught them, but I've seen them cruising around. I like fishing there. It's a short drive and there are crappie and 'gills all over the place. Paul Rone

Caught some great crappie there, some decent bass and some walleye to about 5lbs just here and there though on the walleye. Also caught two channel cats that pushed nearly 10lbs while crappie fishing. I believe it is pretty deep in some spots. Still fish it occasionally when conditions are right but have migrated to other lakes in the spring. To many lakes close and not enough time If you're into panfish, it's a great little lake. Members brianbarker Posted March 5, 2008 Members Posted March 5, 2008 If the conditions are right you cam catch a limit of channel cats in the no-boat zone below the only road that crosses it. I have also caught some excellent bass off of the south bank, its really rugged hiking but worth it to fish the trees that have fell off of the hillside. I usually fish a swim jig, football jig, or a 6 1/2-8 inch worm. I have caught a few crappie and small walleye where the water runs under the highway also. Usually on wally marshell crappie cranks and norman crankbaits. Does anyone know about the goggle-eye (rock bass) that are suppost to live in Fellows? I grew up fishing for rock bass and smallmouth in the Gasconade and Big Piney so I'm interested in finding some up here. I have fished Fellows and McDaniels Lake both quite a bit the last few years with my now deceased husband. We have caught crappie, bass and walleye all of nice sizes when boating on Fellows lake, As already stated, the boats to rent aren't the best, but they float and get you on the lake. The bad thing about this lake is you have to stop boating when the night fishing is just getting ready to start. but you can always go to the area where they have the fishing dock and continue fishing from the dock or banks all night long. I've also caught some nice sized white bass and crappie from the bank and have seen some really nice cats from the dock and banks. Even though I'm not really into fishing cats, I know they're there. I will be at both lakes fishing alone this year. but what the hell fishing goes on, right?? I'll also be at McDaniels by the bridge. Nice crappie and cats have come from that area. lost tackle in the wooded areas, show that someone is fishing bass there also. I will also be trying the Valley Watermill Lake (think that's the name) this year again. Can see lots of fish there but not so easy to get them there yet. and no boating there . Too bad. I heard there used to be allowed, but neighbors didn't like it, so now no boats and the lake is now opened and closed each day. rnmari
