Jason Essary Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Was wondering does anyone know about fishing Lake Springfield in the winter. Was wondering bout catfishing near the warm water discharge that is present on the lake. Anything that would consentrate the fish to let some kids catch some. Sounds like a good therory but looking for some more info before I take them out. zander Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 That is exactly where my father does most of his fishing. There is usually a good catfish bite there year round on shrimp and stink bait. The only draw back is the number of small cats you have to go through to get one of decent size. Another good option is to catch a couple small bluegill and fish them whole or cut up for larger cats off of the third platform (I think, it is the last platform before you reach the end of the walkway). Another thing to consider is how much the kids might be prone to run around. The water is very fast there. Older kids wouldn't be a problem but if I take my 3 year old with me, he never gets out of arm's reach.
Fish Bork Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Exactly, if all you want to do is catch fish to keep the little ones occupied you couldn't go to a better spot. Just throw out one line with worms and let the little ones catch all the bluegills they can handle. Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
