Members joefish Posted January 3, 2008 Members Posted January 3, 2008 Do any of you locals think the warm weather in the next several days will improve or effect the bite. Walleyes primarily! Probing the depths, driving lunkers from their homes!
Daddy Carp Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Getting ready to flip the coin on whether to load my ultra lites and go to Fall Creek or load the casters and trollers and head to Beaver Creek. I'll know for sure......when I get back! LOL
Daddy Carp Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 NO! IT DIDN'T FOR ME AND TWO OTHER BOATS! I went out from Beaver Creed launch and fished from there to Barker Hole and back. Trolling and casting, lipless, spinners, spoons, jigs, rogues, deep divers and bombers. All I did was eliminate a lot more of my stuff into the "things they DON'T like" category. About one more trip and I will have to buy new stuff to try. saw several others on the lake but no hook-ups. Couple fellows at the ramp said this is the worst they have seen it in about 2 years. The lake appears down about 10'-12'. Not much visible cover up that way and the inlets are mostly too shallow & small due to the lake level. I was watchings the patterns on my screen and the fish seem to be acting weird. Hard to describe as the lake depth and fish suspension depth were not uniform & normal. Maybe the lake is turning or something is pressuring and spooking them. Hope your luck is better than mine, but then I'm still a noobie to that area and Bull Shoals.
Members joefish Posted January 7, 2008 Author Members Posted January 7, 2008 Thanks for the report. Was thinking about coming down but got stuck up here. Might try again if I here the fishing is warming up a bit. Did not reallize the water was that low. Probing the depths, driving lunkers from their homes!
Trav Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 DC Water low enough to drive across yet?...Haha I fished around K docks about 6 years ago or so when the water was real low. If I recall my brother caught 8 to my 2. It was summer though and we were fishing rocks for bass. Of course when it gets low the only thing in BS to fish is rocks. To be honost, all the times I ever fished BS going back 30 years I havent been that impressed. Although I have only fished the upper 10 miles or so except for one other time. That time a buddy of mine took me to Theodosia to fish off his Grandparents dock at night. Got really hammered drunk but did catch a mess of Catfish. Often thought of maybe fishing that dock again but I dont remember how I got home...Haha. Didnt pay attention on the way there. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Forsythian Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I'll second the tough conditions... I fished hardbaits in the wind on Sunday with zero success. The lake is about 650, which is about 4' below normal pool... but IMO the worst part is little to no generation. The fish (and the baitfish) are easier to pattern with some current. It's too warm for my taste... my best luck for walleye this time of year is when it's f f f f f f f freezing! If you go, be careful of the shoals between Powersite to just downstream of the bridge. It can also get tricky between Beaver Creek and K dock at this lake level. Cenosillicaphobiac
