Stayed pretty much in the middle of the lake between lost forest and powersite. I was doing more graphing than fishing. Looking for deep water change ups between 20 and 30 feet. I think I found a cliff that started at 24 feet or so that dropped fast to 40. Didnt catch anthing off it but might be a holding area for some big brownies when the weather gets hot.

All and all I had to crank some shoreline when the sun was on them(was too tempting) and picked up 3 sport bass. Then on my way home I vertical jigged the long beach cliff wich didnt produce anything. Still looking for the one that got away..Haha

Not to worry Trav! He didn't get away, I got him. He was so scared and frustrated, said some big guy was chasing him with the ugliest lure he had ever seen and a '61 antique evinrude. Felt so sorry for him, I gave him a ride to the tailwaters. If you really want him, guess you'll just have to break down and leave lower Taney and go up stream where all the 'Long limber-sticks" are fannin the air. LOL LOL Man I bombed out on BS today above Beaver. was ready to call Crappie with one of his "short stringed tube baits". LOL

As long as your taking good care of him.

He will be safe up there with those "long limber sticks". As big as he fought me, he could use a little dental floss off those whipping poles. Haha

I use 10 pound test and I thought he would own my lil george for sure. That 2 and 4 pound test dont stand a chance.

Sorry to hear you skunked out on BS. What were you fishing for? Sometimes all you can catch is trout above Beaver creek This time off year. Especially if the water is low. No expert there, havnt spent any real quality time in "them parts" in years. Last time I fished BS was above swan creek in 03. Mid summer heat, Catching bows. Thought I was better off above the Dam. At least there I could avoid the hassle of trailering my boat..Haha

Trav...My heart goes out to you due to your love for fishing lower lake, that is a very odd piece of water. A buddy and i fished down there saturday for a change of pace and that we got......we sure didn't have to worry about sore wrists.....caught a few trout, a white bass, and a "Sport" Bass. We were looking for some wind blown banks holding some quality rainbows, that we did not find, thats what I get for getting out of my comfort zone. I guess it takes fishing for trout more than 3 times a year to figure out that end of the lake, Keep up the controversy...i love reading you "stiring the pot" comments.

Thanks JR

Lower Taney is a tough area to be successful.

It is only the amount of time I spend on it that has sharpened my advantage. But it is also the best part of the entire lake to find big fish. Especially Bass and Brownies.

Most guys are like you and only try it a few times a year. Thats only because the fish react to thier envirenment so uniquely here, compared to other lakes. Unless you have experianced years of seasonal changes, it is hard to have any confidence. I have been told by some guys that it can even be intimidating due to the surprising diversity of it.

Note for the future.

The bows dont really follow the wind much. They usuallly sink when the wind is blowing and rise as the wind dies. They hold virtually zero migration patterns that are predictable. You really never can be sure where in the channel they will be but they usually dont stray from the current far.

Now the Bass on the other hand, they migrate constantly. Everytime there is a change in water generation they move.

Brownies are a mix of the two. they will rise and fall with the wind and will migrate as the water fluctuates. When water is running they set up in ambush to feed on frenzied bows. If there is no water running, they ,for the most part, will just find some cover and wait for the dinner bell at high water.
