Well, it looks like I am going to be the only one doing any fly casting demos at the show in West Plains in February.

I have a few general casting demos that I do for clubs and so forth but I am having to come up with a few more to fill up my time slots for the show....enter you guys. :)

My regular demos are, "Common casting mistakes and how to fix them" along with distance demos, and total beginner demos. Here is a rough list of what I am thinking about doing but I really would like your input as to what you all would want to see at a demo.

Beginner Fly Casting

Intermediate Fly Casting

The "Common mistakes...."

'maybe' a single hand spey casting

and a demo on total fishing

Cool thing is that the Civic Center where the show is has a pool so I will have water for all of the demos(a first for me) which I think is really cool and opens up really covering roll casting and the actual fishing part.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for your help in advance!

What show is this in West Plains Brian and what's the date?? I think that the single handed spey would be really interesting. I've been contemplating buying one of the new switch rod blanks and tying myself one up. I would imagine that I could use some of those spey techniques with that rod. I know it's a little more difficult to demonstrate without moving water but I would think that proper mending techniques is an area where most fisherman(myself included)could use the most guidance. I read of lots of different mending methods which would probably improve my fishing if I only took the time to learn something new.

How about - Proper Mending? Lots of folks I think would be interested.

Since you are going to be on water it might be easy to demonstrate

Oooops sorry DeepDiver I should have read all of your posts..

Ok, two votes for mending....

I'll make that three for mending.

Also, a spey and skagit casting would be useful, whether it was one-handed or two handed.

Two-handed and switch rods are becoming hugely popular elsewhere. I'm finishing up a 3/4/5 wt 12'6" Meiser Trouter that should open a lot of water while wading. The opportunity to see the "something different" might draw a decent bit of interest.

Cool, I was planning on doing a good bit on mending during the more fishing oriented demo. I will for sure do a good bit on the mending now.

To really do the job I would like to do I would ask someone to knock a hole in the pool...it would be a super short demo though. :)

Deepdiver, the show is the Outdoor Adventures Sports Show February 8-10. My demos are going to be during the weekend. It is the first year of the show but it is going to be big. A lot of hunting, fishing, and just general outdoor stuff....including the Rams Cheerleaders. :)

Hey Brian~

My suggestion would be to do something really different that will get lots of interest.

Other than perhaps seeing Steve Rajeff casting over 200' in competition, one of the most memorable casting demos I've ever seen was Joan Wulff casting 3 fly rods in EACH hand without getting them tangled.

That is what I suggest!! :)

Hey Bill!

I would have to work on that one....

Although I do have a month, I might be able to come up with a trick casting demo.

Not long to go before the whites run Bill, there are a few stripers being caught now and then at Tecumseh.

West Plains MO? Bill I would love to see three fly rods in each hand! That would be insane!
