I was at the One Fly Tourney last weekend. Small turnout, only 6 fisherman. Winning fish was only 14". Disappointing turnout compared to the prior year. Holding the tourney in Jan vs late Oct certainly changes peoples willingness to participate...absolutley right for the river, tough for the tourney. If anyone has not participated in the tournament before I would definitely recommend it!

I guess my response would be... "What one-fly tournament?"

Did I just miss it, because I would've been there in a heartbeat. It may not have been a "January" problem.

To be honest, I'm a bit frustrated I didn't know about it. I'm definitely not saying I would have won, but I sure would have brought some beverages!

I would have to agree. The Dam store used to hold it and Steve Dally used to promote the heck out of it and it was very successful. Steve is no longer there so I guess the place is going down some.

I remember reading about it last year and thinking that I would like to participate but I didn't hear a thing this year either? You would think whoever is putting it on would use resources (like this site) to promote it? Phil has never seemed to mind in the past and it's free.

We called the Dam Store to get a fishing report last weekend and they told us about the tournament. We actually decided to stay away because my buddy is learning to fly fish and we thought it would be crowded. It sounds like we might have been able to effectively compete. Too bad we didn't go down there but we had a good day exploring Hickory and Capps Creek.
