Members FlatCat Posted January 21, 2008 Members Posted January 21, 2008 A couple of buddies and myself are headed to Taney this coming weekend. It's been years since I've done any fishing down there. I'm planning on bringing my boat. Where would you guys recommend I put in at ? Where should we start looking for fish and what are they biting on ? My buddies don't fly fish so we'll be using ultralights. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Brent
zander Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I'm surprised no one has answered you yet. There is a boat ramp close to downtown Branson at the RV park. It is also by Scotty's Trout Dock. Instead of going down Main Street with your ig, it is easier to come in on Branson Landing Blvd and just keep going on it until after Bass Pro, then you'll go past a stop light and will be able to see the RV prk and signs at that time.
Members King Fish Posted January 21, 2008 Members Posted January 21, 2008 I just got back.. I fished last Friday and Saturday.. Yes it was cold and they were running a lot of water.. we fished from a boat and drifted powerbait in the mornings until we got our limit real fast and then fished in the trophy area using white jigs.. countdown Rapala's.. little cleo's.. and caught fish all day.. although we couldn't take much more of the cold Saturday and left at 11am... was a good weekend.. little finger on my left hand still numb.. LOL! PK
Members FlatCat Posted January 23, 2008 Author Members Posted January 23, 2008 Thank you guys very much. I'll give the Powerbait a try. Is there any special way to drift the Powerbait ? How is fishing up from fall creek using spinning tackle ? It looks like it's going to be a little warmer this weekend. I was down at Bennet last week, the water was up and cloudy but I tore them up all day. I even managed to catch 4 browns, which is kind of unusual there. Thank you, Brent
Members jlpatton1 Posted January 23, 2008 Members Posted January 23, 2008 Had some good luck in the last week on the spoons down here. It seems Gold and Copper are favored over Silver, better late in the afternoon or early in the morning. Powerbait is best used off a bottom wait with about a 24" leader. You can rig these yourself, or get drift rigs at any of the trout docks on the lake already tied. Might want to try night crawlers also this time of year. Stop by if we can help you.... Members FlatCat Posted January 23, 2008 Author Members Posted January 23, 2008 Hi Lamar, Thanks for the great info. I'll try and get by and pick up a few spoons and whatever else I may need. I'll take it I can launch my boat there if I give ya'll some business ? Looks like it's going to be a nice weekend. I live up in Higginsville and it's colder than a well digger behind, here this morning. I was down at Bennet last week and tore them up on silver and gray woolie spinners. See ya Saturday, Brent
