soggyfeet Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 I recevied a tieing kit for christmas and started messing around with it and this is what i come up with. Are these anything that resembles somthing that will catch fish. Brian
Danoinark Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Yes sir that orange streamer is a spitting image of a fly I tie sometimes called a Gitzit...not to be confused with the tube lure of the same name... Great for smallmouth bass and other warm water species...Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Terry Beeson Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 That one looks like my great-aunt Mable after an all-nighter at the VFW... Seriously... Some good looking flies that will catch fish, I'm sure of it... I'm curious about the one in the last picture... Your inspiration for that fly and maybe the recipe? Danoinark Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Terry I am with you. I noticed that last one right off and said, ummm young sparrow, big brown, big bass....Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"

soggyfeet Posted February 4, 2008 Author Posted February 4, 2008 The only place I have flyfished is upper Tany. I just tied this one I was going for a dragonfly but I think i just tied crap tell me what you guys think. Brian
Danoinark Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Soggy, One thing is for sure..I know that thing would float. Its hard to tell by the picture what size the fly is. Try it you never know, sometimes a large pattern will entice a big fish. Do a search for a dragonfly recipe and see if you have the materials on hand to duplicate it. Lots of times you can substitute what is called for with something you already have. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
