Danimal Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Went to the lower river yesterday and had a ball. Hiked my way up from one of the accesses (not sayin which) and found a wide shoal that splits around an island and had pods of rising trout in both plunge pools and the left channel above the island. Started with a #18 diamond midge and caught about a 1/2 dozen from each pod before putting them down and moving on to the next pod. Then switched to a #20 WD-40 with a gold bead and repeated the circuit catching 3 or 4 from each pod including a couple that I had previously caught on the diamond midge. Most were between 13 and 15 inches. Only downer was losing the biggest fish of the day--A dark colored beauty that appeared to be 16-17 inches long. Best of all, I had this spot all to myself the whole afternoon. It's amazing what can happen when you walk that extra mile. I think my skills are finally starting to progess just a little because I never even wrapped myself in fly-line (probably a first for me). What a great warm winter day.Dan-o RELEASE THOSE BROWNIES!!
Zach Bearden Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 That fish over there on the right is down right Georgeous! Sounds like a great day! I had to work that day and was stuck choppin' down some trees. *sigh* Mom and some friends went though and all together caught about 150. "Its clearly Bree time baby!"
