Greg Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I just can't wet wade our cold water trout areas - Taney, Bennett, Montauk, White, etc even in the dog days of summer. BRRRRR too cold for me!!! The temp in those areas is actually pretty much the same year around so I haven't found the need to vary that much what I wear down below (waders and under them). But up top is a different story of course. Greg "My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it" - Koos Brandt Greg Mitchell
drew03cmc Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I would rather wet wade any day of the week. However, if the cold water is a problem (55-60degrees all year long) I suggest breathables, but if you can handle it, wet wade all day. I find the cold therapeutic on my bad knees. Andy
CaptainT16 Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 Well, I finally took everyones advice, and with a little extra money for my Birthday from the Mother-In-Law, I went out and bought my first pair of Breathable waders. I was kind of limited here in Wichita, but did some shopping around and comparing and saw a nice pair of Hodgeman Wadelites and I got to try them out at Bennett on Sunday. Was very pleased with them. I wore some running pants beneath them as well as jeans, and actually wasn't bad, but when standing in over waist deep water, could feel the coolness, but still wasn't cold by any means. I thought my feet my get cold if anything, but they never once got cold. I am very pleased with them so far, can't wait to try them out in the summer now. CaptainT16 Posted February 14, 2008 Author Posted February 14, 2008 Yeah, Mother in Law that lives far away is even better! But yeah, I'm really happy with the waders so far. Looking forward to my next Fly Fishing Trip now!
