brittsnbirds Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I decided the other day to swing by Cabela's and by some more hooks. Tiemco were only available in 25's. They had Cabela's also in 25's but they were going to cut me a deal on them. The Mustad's were either 25 or 100. So I bought several boxes of 100 count 12's, 14's and 16's. I arrived home and started to put them away in my little plastic hook organizer. Being very careful not to mix the 12's with the 14's. Once they were put away I started tying some Cracklebacks. After about an hour I noticed that some of the 12's were in with the 14's. I pulled the 14's out and spread them out on my bench. To my amazement there were several 12's in with the 14's. Not just a couple but a bunch. I spent the next hour separating them out. After a while they all look the same! Has anyone else had a problem with a company mixing sizes? Pat
Danoinark Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Never have. I have even bought some in bulk from a guy on ebay once and they came in unmarked plastic bags, except for a tag on the outside of the bag. They all seemed ok as to correct sizes. Were these in factory packages or something they put together for you? Interesting though. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
brittsnbirds Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 Dano- They were in the plastic box with the seal. Note to self, check the box before dumping.
Danoinark Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Strange BB..it will be interesting to see if the other boxes have similar problems. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Thom Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Hey Pat: I am sure glad you made this post because I thought it was just me. Recently on a snowy day I decided to clean up my bench and hook boxes and in he process discovered the same dilema that you mentioned. After a while of sorting they all look alike. Hooks that is. After getting organized I thought that some of the packed hooks on the magnetic strips were the wrong size as I took them out. They were in the resealable packs that I thought never had been opened. Maybe someone in the store had opened them for some reason. Sometimes with the permission of the store owner or salesman I will do this with 2487 scud hooks to be sure I am getting the right tung beads but I always return the hooks to the same package or purchase them. brittsnbirds Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 Yea, I can't figure it out. My system is pretty fool (heavy on the fool) proof. But I have been known to make an error. The thing that has me bum fuzzled is I bought 2 boxes, 100 ea of 12's and 14's. I was low about the same amount on both sizes in the little bins. Now the size 12 bin has obviously more than the 14's. I tied just about the same amount of CB's aslo. That's why I think it wasn't me!
