Okay, size 22 to 8 dries – size critical.

Sounds like quite a range of flies can be effective there. Guess that's good . . . except for narrowing one's tying focus in case they don't all work on a given day.

I really have luck on a red or black zebra midge. Birdsnest beadheads, hares ears anything tan works well also.

haven't fished the lower illinois yet this year due to high water, are there any reports of times they have not generated?

This site shows the discharge for previous days. I'm not Shure if the #a are the maximum discharge or the if it's just a measurement taken at a spacific time of day. BTW my favorite flies are bead head hears ear #18, olive wooly bugger #10.
