RiverRunner Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Will McFly foam work when tying this pattern, or will I need to use the traditional egg yarn?
Jeremy Hunt Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 I'm sure you can, but the way it moves in the water I would say egg yarn is the best. Accept the drift.....<>>><flysandguides.comVisit my blog
Greg Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I tried tying a few of these today and mine look pretty darned good (unlike my attempts at egg patterns). So thanks Jeremy. One question though. Is this fly pretty durable? Or does the egg yarn fray up after a few fish? thanks, Greg "My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it" - Koos Brandt Greg Mitchell
Jeremy Hunt Posted March 9, 2008 Author Posted March 9, 2008 It just depends, I would say more on the tiers end and not the fish. Accept the drift.....<>>><flysandguides.comVisit my blog
Greg Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I took several nice fish recently on the Y2K so I'm definitely adding it to my "keeper" patterns. I tied mine just like Jeremy showed above. Are there other good colors or color combinations? Thanks, Greg "My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it" - Koos Brandt Greg Mitchell
