Is it just me or do resturants give poorer service when they are less busy? I am amazed that when there are fewer customers the servers seem to gather and talk instead of serving tables.

I often call for the manager if service is bad, but I also comment when it is very good and tip accordingly. Most of the resturants that I frequent know me by name and make an extra effort to help my wife who is disabled. I usually don't even need to ask for the extra napkins needed and sometimes get extra things that I didn't even order without cost.

There is rarely a good excuse for bad service and places that do not understand that don't stay in business.
