brittsnbirds Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 hoosier- I bought some 1/80th and 1/100th ounce jig heads. Just happened to be a proud owner of John Deere tractor so I had the paint. I sprayed the heads with 2 light coats of JD Green. Also happened to have some JD Yellow and painted little eyes with a toothpick. Once they dried I tied in a "short" olive marabou tail, palmered some medium olive chenille and viola a John Deere Mini Jig! Personally I think the success in this little gem is the combination of the olive green and the yellow eyes. I have noticed if they did not have the eyes my bites were not as frequent. You can also add a little pearl crystal flash in the tail for effect! BTW, fluorocarbon leader can't hurt either!! Pat
rcguy Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Oh no, another must have fly! I'm running out of room in the fly boxes.
loo10 Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 I have about 6 of the "Johne Deere" jigs but never caught a fish on those. How do you fish those? Well.....you gotta be sitting on a tractor. DoveTail Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 Well.....you gotta be sitting on a tractor. I have a big scoop on the back with a 3 point lift, wondering why none swam in there?
