10-8 report Little Piney trout

My first time fishing the Little Piney.  Went to the Lane Spring Campground.  Started about 10:30 am and fished until 4:00 pm.  Water was very clear.  Caught 30 trout total but most of them were dinks.  I had 5 or 6 decent sized ones in the 9 to 12 inch range.  Caught the majority on an elk hair caddis in size 16.  The second most popular was a BH prince hare nymph in size 12.  It was a beautiful day with sunshine and a high of 73.  I wish I lived closer.  4 hour drive oneway is a killer.

Such good reports from 10/8 and 10/18 I thought I'd give it a try but I was too late.  Forest service has locked the gate.  I walked 10 minutes down the paved road beyond the gate but didn't know how much further the creek was so I turned around and walked back out.  Any one know other as access points to Piney (either above or below Lane Spring?)

There are.   You have to get off 44 at the Doolittle/Newberg exit (Hwy T).  Travel down to Newburg and hang a left then make a right just before the old Houston House.  At that point your still on T.   It will cross the tracks.  Then you can either stay on T and go straight on 7360 or make a right on P and you can access it there at two points.   Good Fishing.
