  1. I/we had a blast today. I am still questioning the clear fluid in the Mason jar Steve. Great food and great company. I just wish my daughter would not have been so shy. She normally isn't that way. hahaha Here is shot of my daughter at the end of the day. Tim, she hooked this right after you left. And, does anyone recognize the guy in this photo? He was a lot of help today. (The Professional) Thanks Tim.
  2. Thanks for your contributions to the forum John Berry, and Happy Birthday too.

    Help!

Well Dave, if you were moving over here I could help you out.
  6. When we were planning a kayaking trip, not a fishing trip, in Idaho on the Middle Fork of the Salmon, we were told not bother in May because the water was really blown out. But you have to take into concideration the snow that was received that season. We didn't go, I was just throwing out one of possible issues that could happen.
  7. What about the runoff? Or were you meaning you were going to avoid the fish too?
  8. 98% of it looks like a couger, 2% (tail) appears to be a bobcat. I guess that leaves me short of 100% of knowing for sure.
  9. I got a chuckle out of it. New Zealand man alleged to have taken hearse to go fishing The Associated Press Published: November 1, 2007 WELLINGTON, New Zealand: A mourner who authorities say got drunk, took a hearse from outside a New Zealand funeral venue and outran pursuing funeral directors told police he was "going fishing" when they pulled him over. Police said the 46-year-old sickness beneficiary, who brought a carton of beer for the trip, told them he was heading to the coast to "check out the sea conditions." The man had been attending a funeral near the tourist town of Rotorua on central North Island when he allegedly stole the blue Ford Forte hearse. There was no dead body on board at the time. Snr. Sgt. Ian Campion said funeral directors chased their 20,000 New Zealand dollar (US$15,200; €10,500) hearse as it was driven off, but eventually lost track of it and called police. The man had the carton of beer with him in the front of the hearse when he was stopped by police. "He said he was wanting to go for a ride to (the coastal town of) Maketu to check out the sea conditions before going fishing," Campion was reported telling the "New Zealand Herald" newspaper. The man allegedly had been drinking all day at the funeral and was described by Snr. Sgt. Deirdre Lack as "intoxicated" when arrested. He has been charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.
  10. Ronnie, She has missed three days of school in the last two years, all because she was with me fishing. She is as mean as her mom, she never gets sick, which makes it easier for me to take her out for a day of R&R. I do feel a little guilty about taking her out of school, but when the teachers tell me they wished more parents would do it, the guilt is soon forgotten. She came home this afternoon wanting to know what time we were leaving in the morning. It broke her heart when I told her that we weren't leaving until next Friday. She said, "That means I have to be good for a whole week". I could see the wheels turning, by the look on her face. She is right though, it is going to be a long week for her. hahaha
  11. Jasper County in Missouri just implemented a erosion control plan. It's a start anyway. By Susan Redden sredden@joplinglobe.com CARTHAGE, Mo. — An erosion-control plan will be required for some Jasper County construction projects under an ordinance approved Thursday by the County Commission. The ordinance will require builders to file an erosion-control plan if the project is located in the urbanized area of Joplin and if it disturbs more than an acre of land. The commissioners also heard plans for nearly $195,000 in grant money that will go to the county Health Department over the next two years. The erosion-control plan is a requirement of federal storm-water laws, and similar measures have been adopted by cities in the county, said Clayton Christy, with Tri-State Engineering. The requirement will be enforced through the county Health Department, which also issues building permits to ensure compliance with flood-plain laws and septic-tank requirements. An erosion-control plan will have to be submitted for building projects that come under the new county requirement before they can receive a site-development or building permit. The county will have to approve the plan, which is to include a description of how erosion will be controlled during the construction. The applicant also must have a permit from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. The requirement applies to land in the county that is near Joplin, Webb City and Carl Junction.

Well, that's one way to "Get R Done". Who is the guy in the background watering the tree?
  13. I am thinking about bringing my 7 yr. old daughter. Anyone else bringing any curtain climbers? She does fish, but she also likes to throw rocks, chase bugs, and in general, likes to find friendly mischief to get into.
  14. Congrats to you and the better half. How are big brothers handling the new little sister?
  15. Thanks Steve. If I make it, is there anything I can bring, as far as food is concerned?
  16. Is a daily state park tag required? Steve, are you talking about meeting at the last parking area at the end of the fly only section?
  17. I don't know of anything that will improve the DO levels within the first mile, other than an oxygen injection system after the turbines. I can't really believe that it hasn't happened with the money that is generated from this hobby. Pensicola Dam on Grand Lake even suggested doing this this Summer after the fish kill below their tailwater during the July flood. Granted it hasn't been talked about since, but they did mention it. Was the Local or National TU invited to this meeting? This sounds like something right up there alley. Somone please correct me if I am wrong, but the local TU did structure implementation along with bank improvements at the Beaver Tailwater.
  18. This Summer while fishing, and almost dehydrating several times (stupid move on my part), I am looking for a hydration backpack system with storage in the backpack area too. I have looked, online, at the Fishpond hydration systems and also Camelbak systems. With the Fishpond products, can the hydration backpack be purchased by itself? I already have the chestpack, so I wouldn't need that. I will need space available in the backpack area for rain gear and a couple of large fly boxes (12X8X1.5) I am looking for some feedback from people that have and use a system like this. Thanks in advance.

  21. I have coffee with a guy who is a diehard Indians fan. He is in his 80's and he catchs more fodder than you can imagine because of that. I can't wait to see him in the morning. He is going to have a smile on his face bigger than Texas.

  23. That is one sharp V8. Great photo, BTW. I didn't know anything about it. Do you have more pics?
  24. Two weeks on Christmas Island, bone fishing with Mr. Dave Whitlock. I just wish I could have made there before it became a hot spot.
