  1. Well we had a great trip -- The boat did great. We even got into some 6ft waves and she rode them out perfectly. Ended up catching around 65 keeper walleye, some white bass, some BIG smallies, and a bunch of sheepheads (drum?) Trip of a lifetime ... The walleye ranged from 3-6lbs, all males. The weather didnt allow us to get out further to fish for the big females -- next time hopefully.
  2. Isn't that the truth!!! And quite the table fare as well... We have caught a few walleye on Beaver -- havent targeted them specifically yet. There are already 8-10lb + fish in there though. With the shad hatch last year...the fish should have some rapid growth rates the next few seasons. SK
  3. Yeah man that is my fish from December - 25lb 4 oz.
  4. I wish I could make it -- Don is a great guide to take out if you want to catch lots of big fish. Good luck getting someone to go along....Beaver Lake is an amazing fishery!!
  5. Hey not a problem, I really like that artical as it is backed up with some hard facts. We go fishing whenever time and W.W.W. (weather, wife, work) permits whether they are biting or not so it is hard to plan by the phases...but have definately noticed the effects of them on the bite.

  7. points across from the ramp to the north
  8. Nailed the crappie and bass last night around Mutton -- 8-12 FOW on small double tailed curly tail jigs, chartreuse, tipped with a minnow. Water temp was ~58 degrees. Should be an excellent weekend! Too bad we're heading to Lake Erie this weekend and wont be here to catch them Good fishing, SK
  9. Dad and I are heading up to Lake Erie for a week (April 24th - May 1st) of walleye and yellow perch fishing. This will be my first time up there so needless to say I am EXTREMELY excited!!! Anyone been up there before? Any good fishing stories, hints, tips? We will be launching out of the Port Clinon, Ohio area. We are planning a trip as well at the end of the summer to Lake Michigan for some king salmon fishing. I am thrilled to finally make it up to the Great Lakes. We got the new Starcraft all decked out and ready for some big water -- those fish better watch out! Sam
  10. Thanks for the link!!!!!!!
  11. I know they dump a lot of sewage into LOZ; and the number of failed septic systems around TR is extremely high -- could this be what is causing it?
  12. Looks like you guys had a great time...the fishing is only going to get better!! Where did you guys get your shiners and catch your shad?
  13. Barnett's Pawn Shop in Garfield usually has some decent bait. That place in Rogers rarely has decent striper minnows but they have good crappie minnows and other bait/tackle.
  14. right at 50 degrees
  15. The fish can be scattered this time of year. The shad will be looking for the warmer water. Basically look for balls of shad on the graph and the fish won't be far. A few spots to try: Prarie Creek area around hwy 12 bridge (there is a public ramp there), Horshoe Bend area (public ramp there), Hickory Creek and on up into the rivers as well. There is a launch at the Hickory Creek marina as well as the park there. Hope this helps a bit. It really takes getting out a few days and hunting to find them and then coaxing them into biting can be the tricky part :-) SK

  18. No problem! We enjoy helping folks catch these fish any way we can. They are so much fun and we are really just figuring things out ourselves. We can run 14 rods out of this boat pretty comfortably. The key is planer boards and different sizes of weights to spread things out.....will usually go down to 6 or 8 if we get into the fish.. We have had 6-8 fish on at once a time or two...the most we've landed is 5 at once. Basically have to feel for the biggest one and lock the others in the pole holders until you get to them. Fun times!!
  19. We did see some fish coming up but they wouldnt take anything on top. We always have the bino's handy...you never know what your going to run across out there :-)
  20. Yep Starcraft ProElite 2000 :-)

  22. Fished 13th & 14th up in the War Eagle arm. The wind about blew us back to Missouri...but it was well worth it! Caught right around 20 stripers and a couple nice white bass. There are MASSIVE clouds of tiny shad everywhere that the fish are tearing up. Those fish are going to grow like crazy the next couple years. Most came 15 ft and up to the surface all on 4-8 inch shiners. Saw one fella trolling bombers on downriggers catching some as well. Our average fish was in the 9lb range with a few up over 10. We had one on right around 20lbs that broke the hook right before we were able to net him. The big ones should move up that way really soon. Can't wait to hit it again next weekend! C'mon 50 pounder!!!! :-):-)
  23. haha sounds good! What a fish...nice catch.

Man what a tough week of fishing...I think the dissolved O2 content (or lack thereof) has them pretty laxidasical down at the 40-50 ft range. We were in fish all day every day we were there...found a lot around point 7 and in the mouths of Van Hollow and Rambo...had to work for them really hard though. We ended up with 3 stripers and a couple white bass. The fish we got were on flat lines with small weights or the planer boards. The bass were biting fairly well..caught a number of kentuckies and a couple smallmouth. Sunday we wrapped up and headed back into Big Clifty and started fishing about mid-way in the creek. Saw a lot of fish..the wind came up about 10am and found 2 hungry ones in about 10 minutes. Our main trolling motor had died the day before so we had to buy a backup form wal-mart and in that wind it wouldnt do the trick so we couldnt work them the way we wanted to. Brand new minn-kota and the foot control goes bad...what a pain! The 2-4 inch shad are everywhere...should be great for the next couple years for those stripers. We worked the top a lot all week and only had 1 blowup on a spook...they are definately starting to come up though with this cooler weather and wind adding some O2 to the water. The next few weeks should be great. We had a great time...was a bit cold and windy at times but all in all a fun trip. The water and trees are beautiful and we are ready to get back down there!!! Headed to Kansas this weekend for opening of pheasant season...then bow hunting here at home the week before deer gun season starts...we are hoping we can get a few deer in the freezer and then we will be back down to chase the big dogs. They will be in Rambo and Van the whole month of November I am thinking. SK
