  1. Thank you guys for all your help. It is much appreciated!! We are fishing this coming saturday-monday.
  2. Dad and I heading to Beaver for Sat-Mon. We are looking primarily for stripers. Any ideas on where to start would be much appreciated!!! I will post all info on how we do on Monday night. Thanks and good fishing!!
  3. They moved up river. Chartruese jig again...caught so many whites my arms are sore. Didn't get any walleye or crappie, but I saw some guys with limits of crappie and saw a nice walleye caught.
  4. Started at 5:15 on the 12th from the shore about 1/4 mile down from the old metal bridge (10-14ft holes, 62 degree water temp)....caught around 25 whites and 2 largemouth, one largemouth was around 3 lbs. I thought I had a big walleye until he jumped about 3 feet out of the water :-) Kept 8 of the biggest whites. They are starting to turn on...I am hoping the walleye do the same. All liked the chartruese swimming minnow. Good luck!!!
  5. Nice catch guys! We have a trip planned with BeaverFever in May. Those guys know how to do it. I can't wait! Arkansas has some premier striper water...Bever, Norfork, etc. You know when you get a striper on your rig...hold on tight :-)
  6. Put in at Aldrich on the 11th....fished a big portion of the river. The fish were stacked up on the graph, not very many active ones though. Caught a couple small white bass and crappie on jigs tipped with minnows. Most people we talked to had similar results. It was overcast all day and the water was around 54 degrees. A couple 75 degree days and some warm spring rains and the river is going to explode with walleye, crappie, and white bass. (we are hoping!) I will keep you guys posted on how we do the next couple weeks.
  7. Anyone having any luck at Norfork the past few days? We are going to spend the weekend at Gene's Trout Fishing Resort...but all the trout we will be catching are just going to be for bait. (j/k!) How nice would that be though?! We thought the resort looked very nice and it is just a 1/4 mile from the dam area. The prices seem reasonable too. I hope this cool weather has turned the hybrids and stripers on. We are going to be trolling and spooning mostly. I will let you guys know how we do. sam
  8. Thanks for the posts! My dad and I are always checking for reports on Stripers/hybrids. Those are the fish we try for most of the time. I will try to post any time we go out. Thanks again and good luck!
  9. The day we were there was right after the weather changed. We found the fish but they seemed very picky. We caught a few smallmouths and walleye....but no stripers or hybrids. There were a few being caught in some boats around us but nothing really hot. After the weather leveled out for a couple days I guess they really picked up...and I hear from a lot of sources that they are biting great right now and will be for about a month and a half. I think it would be a great idea to get down there and try them. There are a lot of fish within a mile of the dam. Good luck!!! sam
  10. About 2 weeks ago the whites and hybrids were coming up decently in the Osage Bluff area....try the points and humps south and west of KK island. They were pushing shad up against the bluffs in that same area also. Try point 03 and the points past 03 towards the dam. Also look for structure around the dam area..we findd some good hybrids there this time of year also. We use live shad in the 3-6 inch range which are plentiful in the backs of long coves...but are hard to keep alive and frisky without a good bait tank.... we use glass shad raps and white curly-tail jigs also for trolling...and the whites were liking white spoons. The shad are getting up to the perfect size... look for the shad and you will find the fish. Hope this helps a bit! Best of luck.
  11. I have found that the best way to be safe is to back up your files to an offsite location. Cheap and easy! www.undergroundbackups.com
  12. Truman is heating up big time for hybrids...a lot of fish in the 8-12 lb range and there are a lot of fish pushing 20lbs. The dense population of shad in this lake allows for an extremely fast growth rates. Good places to fish right now are KK Island, Point 03, and around the dam. Live shad are the best bait that we have found if you can keep them alive and frisky.
  13. Fished main lake points and coves around the dam on the 8th. Managed two stripers just under 6 lbs is all. Better than getting skunked i guess. We couldn't locate a good school of stripers. Saw a few people with fish but nothing too hot and heavy. Water is clear and beautiful at Norfork but maybe we should have stayed at Truman! :-) Anyone been having any luck on Norfork lately on the stripers?
  14. Fished around KK island again on the evening of the 7th....numerous whites surfacing and got into a large school of hybrids. Saw lots of fish that had to be in the 20lb range busting shad on the surface. Boated 4 fish in 15 minutes...stringer weighed in at 43.14lbs. Caught one just under 10lbs on a spinning rig with 6lb test line with a white and blue jig...what a fight! The next couple of weeks are going to be exciting at Truman. We could have caught as many white bass and blue cats as we wanted but we were using large live shad going for the big hybrids. Fishing is heating up if you want to head to Truman. Lots of people catching fish around KK and the dam area.
  15. Heading to Norfork this weekend with a tank of shad. Anyone know where the stripers are biting? Will most likely put in by the dam. Any info would be helpful! Thanks
  16. Is there a good supply of gizzard or threadfin shad in these lakes?
  17. What area is he concentrating on to catch the walleye? Any idea what they were biting on?
  18. Fished the evening of the 3rd and the morning of the 4th around KK Island....caught some hybrids in the 3lb range and as many catfish as we wanted....all on live and cut shad. Looking for the big hybrids but couldn't seem to get them to bite very well. Marked fish on almost every hump but they seemed picky. Whites surfaced good in the evening south of KK and lots of people were fillng coolers.
