Hey Pat, To be honest I forgot about that pic. I have 2-3 pics left on that disposable. I'll just take some random pics and get tem developed. I Am working 7 Twelves right now but as soon as I can I'll get them done. Where were you sunday? I didn't leave till Monday morning around eleven.

#18 BH midges in a couple different colors. Most of the fish I caught were on an olive with a small sparkle tail. 7x tippet seems to be the ticket also. There seems to be a pretty good current too so make sure you use a long tippet and good mending is a must.

Well I'm down here at Bennett and in my camper. I just hope that while I was out fishing that they didn't install a survielance camera in my camper. Anyway, fishing was OK at best. Tons of people for free fishing weekend. The water has really cleared up well, still a little bit higher than normal but it isn't too bad. Today I just realized that I need to tie some dang flys. Luckily I found something that the fish wanted. Fish numbers still appear to be lower than years past. Work has been started on the hatchery addition too. Hopefully they will get caught up and get the stocking back to what it once was. I'll do a report when I get home and I can get on a real computer instead of this iPhone.

Them cameras are everywhere man. The rocks on the stream bed have em too. Watch out for them things that look like muskrats and blue herons. Them are actually surveillance cams.

http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?06923500 No, it does not appear to be high. A little rain here and there is a good thing.

I may be wrong but I think the issue with not having a tag or a name on your stringer is that if it is laying on the shoreline you can say that it is not yours when asked. That way you can keep more fish with multiple stringers and such. On another note, I have forgot to put my new tag in my tag holder on a couple of occasions. I usually leave it hanging on my visor in my truck. But, if asked to present it I don't know if I can say that I would be mad if I got a ticket. My stupidity is mine and nobody elses. I would pay the ticket and move on unless I could convince the CO to go to my truck and show him the correct tag for that days fishing. I always sign it before I leave the park store so it is mine with my signature.

Hey Jerry, I think for dry flys thread leaders are great. You in my opinion won't care for them fishing nymphs and other below surface flys. Just make sure you treat the thread with some floatant. Rich -

Jerry, I don't know about them much but Feather-Craft has the ones I use all the time. They have the small tippet ring too. Order them online at thier website or just let me know what you need and I'll pick up what you want and send it to you and you can pay me when you see me next. Rich -
Who says that the DNR shutdown the dam cam?? To me it looked like it malfunctioned. One day it had a bad picture and then it was all whited out. Your picture is being taken just about anywhere you go anymore. Just about every intersection you go through has one. Every highway has them at various locations. Every store and gas station has them. Hell you may as well just hide out in your house any more in the basement. I could care less about any camera anywhere because I am not doing anything to worry about. I also don't worry about cops either. I pass them on the highway if they are not running the speed limit just like anyone else on the road. I will continue going to Bennett regardless of any camera and no matter how many CO's are out there.

The people breaking the rules are super easy to spot. Just look at the usual places and you will have no problem. I do not smoke a stinkin cigar either and I'm far from being a city boy. But I have no problem with the cameras there either. Don't break the rules and you will have nob problems to begin with. Plus I know for a fact that some of the violators I have seen are locals... FACT.

OK Jerry, Sounds good to me let me look at my August schedule and see when I'm free.
-
Jerry, I'd be all for it if people would show up. It seems like everyone tends to bail at the last minute every time we plan it. The bad thing is unless I have a good amount of time notice I may be the one who has to do something at the last minute now. My job is kinda crazy like that. I would hate to be the one who puts it together and can't even show up. The last time we did this my oldest brother passed and I could do nothing about it. But, if I have plenty of notice I should be good to go. I would be more apt to think later on in July or early August would be better though. Throw it around a little see what evolves. I just need as much notice as possible. I will try everything in my power to make sure I'm there if we get it together. Rich

Hey Jerry, Don't believe one word that guy tells you about me. He is a washed up outlaw kart racer. I just convinced him that fly fishing would be cheaper than racing. Boy did I snooker him ehhh??
-
Well I hoped that your previous news was true, but I hadn't heard anything about that. I don't think that a PR can write up wildlife code violations.

Just read thru some of these threads and you will find all you need. Its all here.

OK don't tell anybody my secret top fly to use when high water is at Bennett OK. Flo Pink brassie... just make sure you sharpen the hook yourself. The hooks they use for them things are dull as all get up. You can thank me later...HAHAHA

So how did that trip go?? I wanted to go pretty bad but the water was too high for this old boy.

I see people fishing Zone 1 all the time across from the Gauge house and using soft plastics and Power Bait. The CA's just need to get off of their duffs and walk around instead of just driving through. The budget cuts have probably stretched those guys pretty thin but that doesn't mean that the job they do while there should be less than thorough. I'm not sure that the people using the wrong stuff really have any idea what is right or wrong though. its not my job to see if they do either.

It'll be a typical Sunday crowd. Crowded at the whistle then clearing out toward the late morning.

No I don't think that the floods affected the fish in the streams too much. But it did flood the hatcheries in MO. This is what I meant and I guess I should have clarified that. Sorry. Only the people running the show may know how much damage was done. I heard from a couple of people that there were small trout washed out of the hatchery and that the ones in there got all mixed up. I don't know how accurate that is but that is what I was told by a couple of people.

Hey Guys, Don't get me wrong, I know that there are not as many fish there that used to be. I was down Monday and the water had cleared up and you could really see what was in the stream. I could see fish but not in the numbers as years past. That also includes last years numbers. I fished from 8am till about 6:45pm. I caught fish but it wasn't easy. The most fish I could see was above the dam to the end of the island and down below the hatchery outlet to the whistle bridge. Most of the fish I caught were smaller than in years past too which means to me that the fish being released are smaller than they want to release. I believe that there is something wrong with how Bennett is being run too but, I think it is an issue with fish availability. I see things that have gone on for the last couple of years that is a downward trend but I still see a ton of people there. I wish I knew how to fix it but I don't. I guess if people want to go fishing and catch a fish every time you throw a line in the water this is not the place to be fishing for now. I'll continue to fish there and hope they get through this lull in fish supply. I truely believe that the supply of fish has been hurt here after all of the floods. JM2cents
