The 45 was in the extreme back of the bigger creek - only a couple of feet deep, later in the afternoon. I thought they had a goldish, yellow tint to them but they weren't pale.

Fished all day today out of Coffman Beach. Fished the Osage from Buck Creek almost up to the dam. Fished the backs of big creeks. Water out on the main lake was 39-40 but we did find a lot of 43 up to 45 in the backs of the creeks. Water was pretty dirty but did clear a little closer to the dam. Caught 7 bass, just one keeper. Most on stickbaits, one on an Alabama rig. Wood helped. We fished in the wind mainly - gusts were pretty strong in the morning but calmed down as the day went and the sun came out.

I'm a member and really like the site. I would doubt that there is a more informative website for a particular lake anywhere in the country. The monthly video reports are very good - lots of talk about water level and current that a lot of people don't pay enough attention to (myself included).

I'm headed down this weekend too. Haven't been in a couple of months though. I'll be around the 50 MM - guessing its muddy.

Nice report, thanks!

We put in at PB 2 yesterday morning about 10. Took a little longer to get down there with all of the rain - lots of water on the roads and we drove through heavy rain. Cleared off and never rained on us on the water, started to rain again when we headed home after supper about 7. Water temps in the mid 70s and much cleaner than I expected (4 foot of visibilty at least). We caught fish all day long (though it did slow when the sun was the brightest. Lost track at over 30. Caught 8 keepers and lost our two biggest fish. Over half of our fish hit a spook. The rest were mainly of soft plastics with a spinnerbait fish or two mixed in. Caught one keeper on a wacky rigged senko on a dock corner. Caught another on a texas rigged tube. Caugh one on a shakey head mad paca. The rest were on a spook. Also caught a lot of 12-14" fish on texas rigged brush hogs and the spook. Our two best fish both (were at least 4) jumped about a 1/3 of the way back to the boat and threw our lures (one on a spook, one on a shakey head mad paca). Those two would have made a good day a really good day. Also lost one other quality keeper that threw a spook on the jump. We've never had so many fish throw the lures on the jump - guess we need to switch out the hooks. Almost all of our fish were close to the main lake, on chunk rock banks with wind. Caught a couple behind docks but fished open banks a lot. Lots of little shad and bluegills in the shallows. Most of our fish were less than 6' deep. We had struggled on LOZ all spring so it was nice to finally have a decent day. Wish we would've gotten on the water earlier.

I was down early last week and saw three big crappie floating in one wind blown cove. Thought it was odd.

Fishing The Osage From Hurricane Deck Bridge To Truman Dam
Jbrant replied to Rwh46's topic in Lake of the Ozarks
Fished Saturday from 5:30 to 3 around Bollinger, a little bit Saturday evening at the 51 MM, and Sunday morning from 5:30 to about 11:00 around Proctor Creek. We had all kinds of bites Saturday - probably caught 25+ fish - but just two keepers. One skinny 18"= fish that barely weighed 2 1/4" and another 15" keeper. The rest were all 13 inches or less (and much less in many cases). Also had plenty of light bites that we didn't get a hook in. Fished everything (pockets, secondary points, creek channels, flat banks in shade, pea gravel, mixed rock) but main lake points and the extreme back ends of coves/pockets. Pretty much everything was behind the docks - anywhere from inches of water to 4-5 feet. Caught some under the walkways but nothing off the back corners of docks or under the docks (skipped a lot of soft plastics around the docks). Hardly anything around little brush piles either. We couldn't find quality bites. Hardly any of the fish were beat up (even the skinny one didn't have a beat up tail). All kinds of big gizzard shad up on the bank most of the morning. Caught a few on a spook - the rest on soft plastics. We did see a couple of small fish on bed in the afternoon Saturday in the back of a cove - first one we went all the way to the back of. Sunday morning we went up lake hoping to find a little better bite. We found a couple more fish on beds first thing. Caught two keepers off of them. Caught a few other small fish before catching our last keeper around 10 on a shallow bank near some spawning shad. It went 3 - 6 and had a pretty beat up tail. It was in just a few inches of water. We didn't get as many bites this morning but did get 3 keepers in a much shorter time than it took to get two on Saturday. We did Carolina rig a main lake point but pretty much did the same thing as Saturday - flipped a lot behind docks and looked for shallow fish. Still couldn't catch anything relating to a dock. Not sure what to do to find a little better quality fish. Think there was a tournament out of Runaway 2 Saturday morning. Anybody know the results of that? -
The shad are spawning right now on LOZ. Fished around Bollinger Creek Saturday morning and they were all over the banks - chunk rock mainly (though some gravel spots as well). We started at 5:30 and it lasted until late morning (we stayed on shady banks most of the morning). A few did fall the bait back to the boat. Sunday morning we fished around Proctor Creek -didn't see as many up the lake as we did on Saturday - still saw some, just not nearly as many. Only caught one decent bass (3.25#) around them. They definitely get right up on the bank and splash around - fairly easy to spot.

I've never used a guide on LOZ but Steve Wilson is seems to be a good guy (posts a lot of reports). Also heard James Dill is good.

Fishing The Osage From Hurricane Deck Bridge To Truman Dam
Jbrant replied to Rwh46's topic in Lake of the Ozarks
My family has a cabin at the 51MM. We fish about a 20 mile stretch from Rainey Creek to Bollinger Creek. Water color can very a lot at our cabin - anywhere from very dirty (wet springs and when they are pulling water from Truman) to 2-3 visibilty. We were down about a month ago and had almost no visibility at the cabin. We fished all day Saturday around Bollinger and never found anything cleaner than 6-8" of visibility. I don't know how much, if any, the water has cleared up in this part of the lake. I'd guess a little, but would love to hear for sure (we may go down this weekend too). I don't get down around the Hurricane Deck area very often but there are some nice big creeks you can get in and avoid the traffic. I do go put in at Larry Gale and fish the Nianguas a little - I really like that part of the lake. -
Put in at Pomme about 8:30 this morning. Fished till about 3:30. Water was anywhere from 65 to 69. Windy all day. Water had 3-4 visibility at the dam and about 1/2 that down around the 6 MM on the Pomme side - kind of had a brown stain to it - some pollen on the water too. We caught 10 keepers and 15+ fish. The biggest went about 4, best 5 went about 13. Broke 3 off on the hookset that I never saw - fishing some pretty rough rock. Caught a few fish scattered around in the morning. All close to secondary pts - a couple right at the bushes but most off a little deeper. Got in one rugged, steep, wind blown cove and caught 4 of our best 5 fish - all in less than an hour. They were scattered all over the cove - the 4 pounder and a 2 1/2 right on the bank, a couple of other solid keepers out in about 12'. Left that cove and came back later in the day and only had one bite. Pretty much everything caught on a jig. Never saw any fish on a bed and all of our fish were healthy - no beat up tails. Saw big shad all day long - flipping around on the surface and up shallow. Got on one windy main lake flat and had 1 or 2 shad follow my spinnerbait back to the boat on about 15 out of 20 casts - never seen that before.

Thanks for the report, may try to go down mid-week if I can get away from work. You think there are any bass spawning yet?

Thanks for the report!

Thanks! Any idea how they caught them?

Fished today around the dam from about 8 to 3. Lots of boats - several tournaments going on. Steady rain most of the time we were on the water. Water temps right around 54. We caught 8 keepers - all fairly skinny - all between 14.5" and 16.5". Just about all of them were right on or close to secondary points. Most were right on the edge of the brush though we did catch a couple just in front of the bushes. 4 keepers on a jig, 1 on a tube, 1 on a beaver, 2 on a c-rig. The jig fish all it on the fall, the texas rig fish when it was being drug on the bottom. Saw a lot of boats throwing spinnerbaits, couple c-rigging. Curious to here what the tournament results were (ABA, Joe Bass on Saturday, AIA on Sunday).

Water is still going to be dirty next week I'd guess. I'd definitely have a spinnerbait tied on. Black and blue jig too.

We fished Saturday from 7 to 4 and this morning from 6:30 to 10:00. Saturday we fished around Bollinger, Sunday towards Proctor. Water temp at the cabin was 49.8 (51 mm) first thing. Found it in the upper 50's late in shallow wind blown pockets. Water was about 6" visibility at the cabin and a little better in Bollinger. Wind was awful this morning. Caught almost all our fish on spinnerbaits shallow. Biggest went 4-6. Only caught two other small keepers the rest of the time. Most of these were close to pockets on chunk rock with wind. Flipped some docks, fished brush when available, fished main lake points, some channel banks, lots of chunk rock. Just never put anything together. Saw some big shad by themselves swimming slowly but never any big balls of bait. Crappie fishing was good in the back of our cove - late in the day was much better.

Nice report. Thanks.

I went Friday. Tough day for me too. Just one small keeper in some big chunk rock on a wiggle wart. Used the a- rig most of the day with a jerk bait mixed in. Found some huge schools of bait fish - both little and big gizzard shad and couldn't get a bite around either of them. Fished main lake points, pockets, secondaries, and a channel bank. Tried chunk rock and gravel.
-
I'm thinking about going down Friday. Anybody know of a ramp around the North Shore - something around HH? My wife may go shopping while I fish, wondering if there was something a little closer to the darn than Shawnee Bend or PB2.
-
Nice report. Thanks! Did you stay in the Lower Gravois all day or did you get out on the Osage Arm?
-
Nice fish! Thanks for the report.
