  1. Put in at Masters today and fished points, flats, rocky banks, deep, shallow and everything in between. Nothing, nada, zilch. Ended up with one 19" walleye in the back of a cove jigging for crappie. Could not find crappie of walleye any where. Any body else have better luck?
  2. Thanks for the info. Fished Fairfield yesterday, found it slow but got to explore the area. I really like it. I usually fish Stockton and Pomme, but I think I'll add this area to the list.
  3. WE will be in a boat.
  4. Any info on where to fish out of Fairfield for crappie would be appreciated. What are the conditions around there? High water? Thanks. I'll share my report Fri.
  5. Putting in a Masters tomorrow, any suggestions. Thanks for your reports.
  6. My experiences would say that would be a little early. Might find some red ones.
  7. I used to provide supported employment services. Pizza Hut used to be a pretty good resource for employment opportunities. Voc Rehab should be able to help, but I know funding isn't what it used to be. The Springfield Regional Center for people with Developmental Disabilities should /could be a resource as well. Good luck and shame on WalMart.
  8. You might give fly fishing a try.. It's a lot of fun and the fish are usually very lightly hooked.
  9. Thanks for the response but I'm only interested in an aluminum deep v.
  10. I am looking for a used 16" deep V. I have a 40hp motor but would consider one with motor. Must have steering console.
  11. It is late and I too am retiring. Enjoyed the comments. One last question to be answered some other time. What rights have you lost and which one(s) did you lose today? Losing rights daily, now come on.
  12. Mr. Bennett, I read all of your comments before I responded. I just get tired of hearing terms like enviromental wackos and gorvernment geniuses. Maybe your reference was just to a narrow group and not a broad generalization, but terms like that only fuel the fire of some who would stereotype all who work for the government as incompetent and all who care about the enviroment as "tree huggers". I appreciate your information and am sure your not disrespectful to your customers. I just get tired of the anti- government, anti- enviromentalist attitudes that I run into around here. In the meantime I will continue to use my lead heads to catch fish until I'm told I cannot or am provided with a better alternative.
  13. Mr. Bennett, I really am disappointed in some of your remarks. I guess you refuse to take liberals fishing or accept their money. And just what is your definition of a liberal anyway. As far as "government geniuses" would that include the ones that built the lake that you make your living on? As far as lead fishing lures I doubt that they will be declared illegal and even if they were 1. The law would be practically unenforcable and 2. most people around here would ignore the law like they do so many other fish and game laws. Sorry you want to limit your services to only those that you agree with politically and religiously, but thats the beauty of being in buisness for yourself.
  14. Fished three days on Pomme last week and did well on crappie. Fishing in 16-24 ft. of water, about 12-15 ft. deep in ceder trees. Used jig and minnow. They seemed to like red and chart tipped with a minnow. We were fishing the Cooper Cove area. The bite was really on at Truman over the weekend, same pattern. Fished on Grand arm out of Long Shoal. We limited out in about three hours. Both places were producing eaters, no slabs for us although the guide at LS brought in a stringer of slabs.
  15. Thanks for the report. Do you find Maze creek a generally productive area for walleye and or crappie?
  16. Went to Bolivar Landing. Fished a variety of coves with longpoles and jigs. Found a few in really shallow and some still out about 10 feet. The ones that hit were pretty aggresive. Kept 8 nice big crappie. Caught bunches of bass(small)on the banks. The female eggs were getting there but not ready to drop yet. This week should be hot.
  17. Do you think it would do any good to put signs at the boat ramps warning people about the wind on stockton and to wear life saving devices? Some people with boats are very inexperienced, some are new to this lake and unfortunately some just aren't safety minded ,nor follow the law concerning children.
  18. Another option that works well for me is to use a size 10 long shank hook and wrap it with lead wire. About 18 turns. Then tie the maribou color of your choice in a streamer pattern. Blk and yellow and sculpin are my go to colors. I always use red thread. You can add split shot if needed to get to the bottom. Fish with or without an indicator.
  19. I fished out of masters, went up maze cr. to the highway, fished all the brush piles I know, tried some new spots, fished 10-30', tried at least 5 colors, no minnows. Caught nothing. Didn't see or talk to anyone that caught anything either. Trying trout tomorrow.
  20. If it were me, I would probably repair it myself using west marine epoxy resin and epoxy resin cloth. Do not use just regular fiberglass. Clean off all old repairs and sand the area around the damage, say about 10 in. out, then aplly according to instructions. You could also reinforce on the inside with additional epoxy resin and cloth. Its really pretty easy if your handy.
