Congrats Moody. The wonders of waterfowl being here one day and gone the next.

Good to hear there's still birds around up there. Everyone I talked to down here didn't see hardly any at all compared to yesterday.

Awsome and great pics.

30 minute hunt this morning if that. Get set up and wait. Seen quite a few flying around just before lst thinking maybe we picked up a few birds ahead of the front. Come LST and nothing for about 15 mins and then this flock comes in. Pull up and try picking one bird out but they were grouped pretty tight. Thought I had one picked, pulled the trigger and birds started dropping. Pulled a second time and clean miss which I'm thinking wad because I pulled off to see how many were on the water. Get to looking and I had 5 birds down 2 stone cold and 3 crips. Send the dog she chases one crop down and as she's on the chase I'm watching the other 2. Get her back with the first cripple and send her on the second when it decided it wasn't as crippled as we thought and flies off which somewhat confused her, watched it fly out of sight. Get her back and she gets the other cripple and the other 2 birds. Don't know if i actually hit that bird or if it just landed when the others fell and didnt know what was going on. 4 birds collected and it was 15 more minutes and a pair come in. Drop em both and we're done. Could be a stellar weekend for you all with this cold front coming in.

Caught me with my waders down the first time thru ;)

Been playing with the gopro camera by staking it just above water level in the dekes. Worked pretty good last Saturday but this morning crazy birds kept working in behind it. -

Video from when they caught me off guard -
Right at LST I had to answer the call of nature. No sooner than I pull my waders down and start letting it flow a flock of teal come zipping right in. Needless to say they promptly left as quick as they came in. About an hour later and nothing but kill deer had a lone bwt lite in the dekes. 2 shots after flushing it and one more to finish it off I finally had a teal for the yella dawg to retrieve, her first. Sat for another hour or and nothing and I'm about ready to call it as its getting hot and humid quick. About 0930 had a flock of about 10 come in and lite in the dekes. Thinking it's the same flock that buzzed at LST. Line up 2 and drop them, swing on the next and drop it and then the last I throw a hail Mary down it goes. Couldn't get the shots on camera as they were all on the backside of where I had it placed. Figured out I need to invest in hip waders as my neo's are just to much when it's this warm, but on the plus side I may have sweated off 10 pounds .

Congrats. Still seeing a few around but no concentrations of em.

Got off work at 0600 and decided a teal hunt would of been easier and quicker to prepare for. This is my Friday start of my weekend so I try to stay up so I can have somewhat of a normal sleep pattern for the next 3 days. Long story short in 2 hours of sitting only seen one hen woodrow that lit in the dekes and 3 does that snuck in the brush to within 20 yds behind me. Good morning just to be out with the yella dawg non the less.

Nope sure wouldn't. I'm sure my shell to bird ratio will drop drastically soon enough . That's what I get for picking out one bird and not flock shooting like I've been known to do. Of course I would of missed them all if I flocked em

Alot better than my second day. Had a shot on 4 that gave us fly by but caught us off guard and didn't give us a second shot. Sat till 0930 and the fog gave us fits most of the morning thick rolling fog and think that might of played a roll in the birds not flying. Hoping that's it and the cold front hasn't already pushed em out. Heard one volley of shots right at lst and another volley in the opposite direction about 0800 and that was it. Enjoyed every moment of it as I got to spend it with one of my sons who was in town with a buddy of his from the AFB he's stationed at. Did manage to let the boys shoot up a tennis ball pretty good that we found laying on the bank to get the dog some work in ;). Brought memories when he was 8 and had slow morning of no birds flying. The field had just been disc I'd throw up dirt clods and they'd bust em.
-
if they land in the landing zone then no point in letting em take off ;).
-
Yup. 2 triples actually. One the conventional way minus the skillet shot ;). The other was one shot / 3 down, glad I looked to see how many were on the water before pulling the trigger on another ;).

Way to get it done BH.

Sunrise is 0652. Managed to limit out with 5 shots fired and one of those wad on a cripple. One of the best teal hunts I've been on. Shortly after I posted the original post I had three light in the dekes. 3 shots 3 birds down. About 0800 had a group of 20 or so come in one shot 3 down. Good thing I looked on the water as I swinging on another bird . Had the gopro going and was able to get footage trying to figure out how to upload it here.

Beautiful morning and birds were flying early, to early but unfortunately that didnt stop a group somewhere up in Beaver Creek that fired off a volley of 7 or 8 shots at 0625. Had 15 to 20 teal in the dekes at 0630 and they were just driving the black dawg nutz. Had a group give me a fly by over the dekes at 0700 but couldn't get swung on em quick enough. One of the strangest things so far was the Rudy duck that swam thru the dekes checking them out. In all the years duck hunting I've seen maybe 3 but never during teal season????? Still sittin' so we'll see what the next hour so brings.

Been seeing a few around but have a feeling the front will push them out bit hopefully bring a few in ;).
-
I'm hoping it doesn't just push em out. Boy is down around Shreveport Louisiana and said he's seen a bunch around the AFB he's stationed at.

Great stuff as usual BH. Congrats on Eurasian. They definately stand out when you see them. Still waiting for my first to come in close enough to sling lead at ;).
-
Well done BH. So far pigeons are leading in my harvest count ;). And they do taste the same if you ask me and more meat on em. They eat the same food. Doves I shot Friday where flying with the pigeon flocks.
