  1. Tan Vat is as high as you can go to put in. It's pretty much at the park. Make up 4 miles in an hour on the upper current? Ham must be an olympian. I routinely put in at Baptist and float to Parker, stopping to fish along the way. That's just short of a 4-1/2 mile float and I spend ~4 hours, sometimes more if the fishing is good.
  2. Your own kayaks or renting? If your own, start as far up the river as the water level would allow. Right now Tan Vat would be fine to start at. TV to Cedar would be close to 8 miles.
  3. I'm down at TV right now. Looked everywhere and no luck.
  4. Find it? I assume you have run back down and looked around? Did the water get up into the parking lot? I'll look around this weekend...
  5. ~3 miles upstream from jerktail landing.
  6. Nice vid, channel and POV site!
  7. Hilarious and sad at the same time. Blatherdouche - lol
  8. Who will wear the sasquatch costume?
  9. Tad above what it was in October. Check the Tan Vat gauge -
  10. That sucks. Insufficient funding my arss.
  11. Not sure why it's dead because that's the correct url. Just go to oasisbenches.com, choose the "Oasis Benches" link at the top and look for "The Spinner" at the bottom on the right.
  12. Listed on ebay - I'm in StL. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281049213539&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123 I also have an Oasis Spinner fly tying bench that I have for sale - http://goo.gl/9F1qM Excellent condition. Prefer local pick-up. Asking $150.
  13. I think dude has more issues than a news stand.
  14. Camping at Baptist is not allowed per park rules, or at least there's a sign at Baptist that says no camping.. But as you probably know, there's a few spots not far down stream from Baptist where you could setup camp. I have never tried to trap crawfish, but there's plenty of them in the river. However, occasionally I'll go below cedar and catch stonerollers in a trap - very easy to do.
  15. Thanks - bad recollection.
  16. I can't even imagine taking a jetboat up there [flying - fast] if it were mine. Just not enough water in too many places. But I supose there's always a clown who doesn't give a dung...
  17. Was it a Ranger or MDC? 15 HP max limit up there.
  18. I think you're inferring a bit here. The story clearly says "In the meantime, as the mountain lion got closer Brady took a shot..." None of us were there, so none of us can know the reality of the situation. And the writer could very well be making some assumptions like "Brady took a shot...he missed the cat" could very well be that the kid was scared to death and just fired his gun in an attempt to scare the cat. Glass houses...

  20. 17th and 18th should be good days to float/fish. Last weekend that stretch was full of party floaters. Many of the kids will be back to school when you float. Good luck!
  21. No bait restrictions in the white ribbon portion.
  22. Sam Potter runs a guide business and is on the upper current a lot - http://www.tightline.biz/.
  23. The biggest load of crap will be that congress and the almighty president will continue to receive a pay check. Like THEY are essential...
  24. Gotcha. Hmmm, to drop my canoe in tomorrow or not? That is the question! When I asked who was going to patrol if the employees are furloughed she mentioned a "skeleton crew." So do I get tossed in jail for floating and fishing on a river?
  25. It's not true that people are fooled? I just got off the phone with the park office, asking about the effects of the government shut-down. I then asked the direct question, "Is the ONSR a national park." Answer, yes. Mind you, I'm not saying she was correct. Rather, she (and many others) think (maybe are fooled) into thinking it is. As I thought.
