  1. Fished down in my hole again on Long Creek Past Cricket. Caught 20 keeper crappies. We only had a couple of hours but the size was better arround an 11" average. That was not counting my 14.25" slab!!! Get out while you can, This weather is unbelievable.. Chris
  2. Nice!!!, I'll keep an eye on it , I aam sure we can spot nessie on it sooner or later !! No really that is cool. Chris
  3. Fished this afternoon.. hit the lake at around 2:30 from cricket creek stayed out 'till 4... limit of crappie and one whit bass around 2.5#. .. alot of other boats out, not sure how they did. The majority of my crappie were 10.5-11.5" long, not big, but great for eating!!! I plan on hitting it again tomorrow, hopefully I can get a friend out there too. A few older guys stood my up today because they were concerned about the wind ... the fish were still biting... Tight lines.. Chris
  4. I catch mostly white crappie over the winter. They average about 11".. for example monday we had about 22 thate were between 10-11, the rest were larger with the biggest about 12.5. In the spring I'll see more Black's and larger fish. But the whites eat really well.. YUUMM
  5. I usually count down the jig and reel it in. I try to keep it 6-18" off of the bottom. If that does not work I'll fish it higher in the water column. Specific locations I cannot divuge, but use an open mind when looking for the crappie. They are not always where every one else is fishing . If you see a bald dude out there in a G3 Golden eagle 165, you may want to keep your distance (he is a little crazy ), but watch where he goes. Also 4# test low vis green is a must!! Tight lines... I'll probly be down there saturday and monday...
  6. I was fishing in wolf creek? this summer near Beaver Creek. We had a decent size school of whites come through they were small thought 1-2#'s My buddie caught some but the scattered rapidly.
  7. I caught Crappie all last winter down in Long Creek. I fish small jigs and depths much shallower than most. I catch them pretty regularly in the general vacinity of Yocum, and in Cricket Creek and I even caught a couple of whites Monday. Right now I would treat the entire area south of Cricket Creek marina as a no-wake. There are trees everywhere. I regularly bounce my boat off of them. (that is why i stick to aluminum :-)...
  8. Thanks for the warm welcome!! I truely love the Ozarks. (except for the summer Branson traffic). Check out my fishing report under the Rock.. I'm catching on to this crappie thing!!
  9. Fished down the Long Creek arm Monday, from 9:30-2:30 only two small bass.... Then it was on!! From 2:30-4:00, my buddie and I put 30 crappie and two white bass in the boat. Fished jigs in 4'-20' of water. What beutiful weather we have here in the winter
  10. Hi, My name is Chris Altbergs. I moved out here in 2004 from Massachussets, but grew up in Conecticut. I began life as a trout fisherman, fishing rivers and streams in CT and New hampshire. I became a Bass fisherman when I was 18 and never really looked back. (I am in my early 30's now.) I moved out here for the bassing and the people. My wife and I love our new home and community in Blue Eye. I fish mostly the Rock for bass, but I have found some really nice crappie ou there of late. I appreciate this board alot it has helped me to learn about this new and strange lake i have found myself on.
