  1. I've seen That's my King.....I thought that was awesome too!
  2. Thanks Brian, I went down today to check it out. It's a pretty place and a great place to take the kids and get them on the fish, but that's about it. I hear they have a nice restaurant too. Anyway, now I know!
  3. Yep! Pretty fortunate to live here. I might jump on the scoot and check it out for the ride and for the fishin' Thanks,
  4. I was wondering if anyone has been to Rockbridge south of Mountain Grove and Cabool about 50 miles. I know it's a trout park and cost to get in and I'm sure there's plenty of fish, but I was wondering about outside the park and if you can get access to it? If you can is it worth it or is it more like if you're gonna go, go to the park and pay the money! Thanks all,
  5. It was a simple question. Does the spawning/mating "season", season being the key word, effect the catch rate? That's all I'm asking.
  6. Thanks for those two replies and to clarify a bit more I was asking about if fish were more finicky when they are spawning or if it makes any difference and then the first two replies would prevail. I had a member PM me in case this opened up a can of worms on fishing redds or shuffling and all the other wrong doings some do!!! Thanks all, Chuck
  7. Since I'm still new to fly fishing this might be a silly question, but should the spawning season generally aid in catching or are the trout "preoccupied" that would reduce numbers. I went to Montauk yesterday and only caught about 12-15 (I lose count), but Tuesday caught 25+, so I thought I'd pose the question. Thanks all, Chuck
  8. Sorry. Price! How long for two guys, full day or half day, how much, what areas, all fishing from the boat or some wading, what you provide stuff like that! Thanks Brian...
  9. Ok, thanks for that Brian. How far is it from the blue ribbon on the eleven point? Might go check it out the next time I come down to the eleven point. BTW why don't you PM me on a fishing trip. I have a vacation coming up in a couple weeks. Might be a couple of us coming down to see ya. Thanks again Brian,
  10. Hey Brian, What can you tell us about the Barron Fork Creek? I saw it on the map looking at the current and did some asking about it, but didn't get much information. I think it's out your direction. Thanks,
  11. There's your answer Don. Taney trout must be Chiefs fans too!
  12. I bet it does John. Thanks again for the mental images. I'll go someday for sure!!! Take Care
  13. Thank you Rick, Grechen and John. Not sure what we'll do yet. I like the idea, of course, of bigger fish at the San Juan, but concerned about the "crowd" in mid September having never been there. I've always wanted to go to the Smokey Mountains and will eventually get there one way or the other. I'll print this and save it for places to try once I get there someday. John, the areas and description you mentioned is what I would like to do. For me there's two parts to Fly Fishing that are equal catching fish and the experience and this area you describe sounds really nice. I think we're still on for the San Juan and just hope it's not like opening day at Roaring River! That would ruin it for me, well not really but less is more when it comes to people!!! Thanks all, Chuck
  14. Hi all, A friend of mine and myself had planned a trip to the San Juan, but with gas prices and all I'm sure if we'll make it. So, I thought I'd check the other direction. Has anyone had any experience in Tenneesee? It's closer and in the mountains sounds like a cool spot to be coupled with some good Fly Fishing would be a good trip, I think! Any help would be great! Thanks, Chuck
  15. Hi All, I've been looking online for a knot to use that I can reposition a yarn indicator. One that holds well, but doesn't compromise the tippet/leader. Any help would be great! Thanks, Chuck
  16. Hey Don, Keepin' secrets to yourself eh?......
  17. Wow, those are some awesome replies guys! Thanks Steve, (great post) John, BMG and Thom. Probably some of the best advice/tips I've ever received!!! John, someday I hope to discover some secluded spot or at least an area that hasn't been pressured to death! What you describe in the Smokey's is what I was referring to, not knowing where though, so thanks for explaining the "sneaking technique". Maybe I'll bring my "leaky waders" to get some relief from the heat on the San Juan! Steve, Thanks again for all the things to look for. I'm looking really hard at the Simms Riverteks. Not quite the 425.00 and a couple steps up from from the others for a 279.00 price point. Lighter weight uppers for conversion to waist waders with a zippered pocket, Left and Right Booties and extra material in the knees for the "bushwacking". Seems to me to be the most bang for the buck without going overboard for my needs. I also learned that after time you should "re-treat" with a waterproofer for the waders to keep them at optimal performance, which I didn't know prior to. I asked a quy at BassPro about Hypalon Booties which I read was better than neoprene, but he hadn't even heard of it? Maybe nobody else has either? I'm not sure if it's a proprietary product from Orvis, but they have them on there Tailwaters XT I think is the model, but they are 380.00 anyway. This has been a good search for information on what I think I'm looking for and I thank all of you guys for helping me out! Be safe and stay dry in them waders!!!
  18. Thanks Steve!
  19. Thanks John, I'm really looking forward to it. A friend of mine on this board, Don, invited me to go. It should be a blast! So, for education sake (if you don't mind) why would one want to do that other than the obvious of splashing through the water and making a mess with lots of noise! I mean if these trout see you even if you're quiet does that run some of them off? I'm really trying to learn the fine aspects of this sport! I have this problem of trying to be the best I can at what I try to do. Thanks again, Chuck
  20. Gonna try some dry flies Saturday. Anything working better then some others. Thanks, Chuck
  21. Thanks SilverMallard! I'm heading for the San Juan River in New Mexico in late September and heard about people crawling up to the bank which I thought was a little extreme, but hey, if you catch more fish... Ever been there?
  22. Thanks Greg! I'm about to overdose on all this research....
  23. Thanks Greg and Bob for the validation and thanks MTM for the other tip on the Dan Bailey's. Don, YES, you are CORRECT and thanks for noticing!
