  1. In a way we have to worry about others. The game and fish police don't always know what's going on everywhere, and they depend on us to worry about what someone else is doing. That's why they have a tip number for you to call if you witness any game violations or pollutting etc.
  2. This is what is left of Kelly's Slab. You might want to rethink your water levels before heading out. With the slab almost gone, that water will not back up like it used to and the gage is above the slab.
  3. Went down to the lower access on Crooked Creek today and fouind out that it is not "Doe Bambi Rd" that you are looking for. It's "Shannon Ln." Attached is a pic of the road sign and what the view is of the turn off. Also a pic of what the creek looks like right now. It is very low.
  4. Really? If you fish to get away from the crap, but you're close enough to hear someones phone, you are still in the crap.
  5. There is a BIG diference between putting your finger under the gill plate and putting your finger in the gills. Not all fish released after being hooked and fought will survive and to think so is only fooling yourself. There is a LOT of stress put on a fish during the fight, and many do not survive, even if it swims away right after being released. If you are really worried about keeping those fish alive, don't hook them in the first place.
  6. Hey Don, I see your signature says ya got a delicious bass, but you're holding a trout in that avatar.
  7. Fixed it for ya.
  8. Happy Birthday Brian. See you at the NAFF meeting tonight.
  9. I have only handled one trout under the gill plate, and that fish died due to the fight in warm water on Lake Michigan. For handling toothy critters like Pike and Musky, the best way to land them is to slip your fingers under the gill plate. Just don't stick them in too far or you will feel the teeth. It is possible to hold a fish under the gill plate without touching the gills. Just as long as that is not the only point of holding a fish, it will survive.
  10. The fish that isn't caught has the best chance of survival.
  11. I've seen the AFGC guys at Yellville a few times and I once got checked at Pruitt on the Bufallo by a Park Ranger.
  12. I don't think he would have wanted to get that drunk.
  13. Why didn't you call me and tell me you were in town. I wouldn't have gotten so dang drunk with gotmuddy Saturday night then.
  14. Depends on how far you want to drag that thing. Gotmuddy and I did it last summer and could only go about a half mile before the rocks and shoals got too big to manuever around.
  15. So should they let those who keep too many fish or undersize fish go too? Or how about letting the guy who breaks into your house and steals everything you own get off scott free. Laws were made to be upheld, if we like them or not.
  16. Or get a boat cart. I bought one for my kayak. No carrying a 70# yak to the water for me. Just put it on the cart and wheel it to the water.
  17. If you have a bad back, you really should try one before buying. Rowing one of them could put a lot of strain on the back.
  18. I just Googled "Doe Bambi Rd." and yes, that is it.
  19. Not sure about the "Doe Bambi Rd" but the 733/736 is right. Just watch for the sign to the access. And I do mean watch for the sign. It's kinda hard to see unless you're looking for it, and if the brush is up, you won't see it.
  20. There is an access about a mile below the 101 bridge. It's the "Lower Access" which has better parking and an actual ramp.
  21. Or they can call someone else.
  22. Anybody know of how long of a float that is? I might be interested in that myself.
  23. No. The Turkey access (which was off MC 4005) is no longer available as it is all private land now. You can talk to Jimmy Walker at the Snow access and he'll let you put in at Georges Creek. It's private land there but he has right to it (if he doesn't own it outright.) I think he charges $10 for the acess right up to Crooked Creek. We have put in by the highway bridge and had to carry a canoe a pretty good distance. I'd rather pay the $10.
  24. Go ahead. I ain't gonna stop ya.
  25. Mine is an older Eagle that I bought back in the 80's so I doubt it's water proof. It will go in a Pelican case or a Aquapouch.
