  1. Im not too sure about what they eat here or there. Compared to the smallies I caught back in Wisconsin, all the smallies here in the Ozarks look like they are starving. Here's a couple pics of some WI smallies, and one of a 17" Crooked Creek anorexic looking fish.
  2. Shouldn't live in glass houses. Neither could I.
  3. "Shut up Donny." Great movie.
  4. There's always a way to crop and reduce the size of a digital image.
  5. Seriously, it wasn't Obama. It was Saddam Husseins ghost getting even.
  6. I had a Berkley digital scale about 10 years ago. Very inaccurate. Caught a bass that should have weighed 2 pounds, the scale read over 5. Went home and tested it with a 5 lb. weight, it read 8.5lbs. Get a Boga Grip. They can be IGFA certified. Costly, but accurate.
  7. I'll be there. Oh, that's right. I was.
  8. That's easy. Lake Norfork, Arkansas.
  9. This is a great smallmouth fishery. The last time I fished it was about 5 years ago. While wading in this river, the crawfish were actaully climbing up my waders. Lots and lots of crawfish in this river. There had to be thousands of them swimming around devouring anything that got in their way. And as everyone knows, crawfish are high in protein. Makes for very healthy populations of smallmouth and walleyes.
  10. If you're fishing the White River below Bull Shoals, it's not hard to cast into the next county since Baxter County is on one side and Marion County is on the other. I guess if you were somewhere in the middle of the river, you'd have to cast what? Maybe a couple feet?
  11. Using a sink-tip line for smallie streams would all depend on if I'm using weighted flies and how fast the current is flowing. If the water's high and fast, then yes, I would use a sink-tip. I'm not sure of the sink rate, but it's a Teeny WF7ST. This line has a 7 foot sink-tip. I keep it on an extra spool so it's ready if I need it when I get to the water and find it's running fast. Otherwise, I just use a standard WF7F line by SA. Most of my streamers and nymphs for smallies are weighted, so this line works just fine. Plus I can just cut the fly off and tie on a topwater without having to switch lines.
  12. 40 hot dog rolls. Done.
  13. Fishing for spawning smallies is akin to hunting deer in a cage. Only an absolute a**hole would do it and call themselves a "sportsman."
  14. 1. flytyer57 2. Single 3. Looks like nobody' bringing paper plates or forks. Got 'em 4. Sounds like it's gonna be Shoal Creek. 5. Already been done too. Got my MO license today with general trout stamp. Checked out Shoal Creek for the first time at the Lime Kiln Access. That is a small creek as far as I could see. Hopefully the water levels go down too. Looked like a lot of milk in some bad coffee. See ya @ 8 AM.
  15. Have you thought about putting it out by the road with a "4-Sale" sign? A lot of people like putting stuff like that in their yards as ornaments. Maybe someone driving by might think of how nice it would look in their yard.
  16. Oh come on now. Machine gunned? Really? I say, give them some of the chemicals they dumped.
  17. Jigs, jigs, and more jigs. This includes jigging spoons. Locate the fish on the Lowarance and drop a jig down to them. I'm going out to Norfork tomorrow. Taking my yak, no sounder. I'm gonna drop a jig over the side and just bounce a jig on the bottom while drifting till I find 'em. Should prove quite interesting. And welcome to the forum.
  18. Alright, I got a map so now I won't miss it. I'll be there, unless it's pouring rain, thunder & lightning or snowing. I read over the threads of who's all going to be there, and what they are brining. Looks like everything is covered. Let me know by Sunday May 23rd if you need me to bring anything. I won't have computer access after that until I get back here to Mt. Home after the float.
  19. There's an actual access at Lime Kiln? I didn't see that on Google maps. Google shows Allen Bridge Access, but nothing for Lime Kiln except for the road crossing. Where exactly is this access? Will I find it without a problem when I get there being that I'm not familiar with the area?
  20. Has anyone fished War Eagle Creek near it's junction with Hwy 412? Is there an access near by? I drive past there every week but never have time to stop and check it out. It looks like it might be a nice creek to fish. If there's no place to access near 412, is there anyplace to access this creek besides Beaver Lake???
  21. Count me in. I Googled Neosho and Shoal Creek and found Allens Bridge Access and Lime Kiln road. I imagine that's where the takeout is. That's also where everyone is meeting? Is there a parking lot around there? Or just parking along the road. Since I work in Rogers, AR all week, I can just stay there and make the trip up in about 1 1/2 hours. I get up for work everyday at 4:30, gotta sleep in some on the weekends. I can leave Rogers at 7 and be there by 8:30 or so. Will I need to bring anything other than my fishing gear? I can bring my cheap yak. If there's still an open seat we can negotiate that when I get there.
  22. Ok. I'm about in. May 29, Shoal Creek, MO. Allen bridge to Lime Kiln. Right. Where? I have absolutely no idea where that is. Is it shown on Google maps? I checked the Shoal Creek forum and it looks like it's somewhere around Joplin. Now how far is Joplin from Mountain Home, AR???? Guess I'd have to get a motel room for the night. Any cheap motels in the area?
  23. No appology needed. I, and I'm sure all of us here, feel the same way as you about the delay and the mess of fish no longer swimming all for the mighty $$$$. Only problem is, most courts would laugh this right out on it's ear. Fines are not heavy enough to prevent this from happening unless there is an overabundance of the crime.
  24. Mine ain't that fancy. I don't even know who made it anymore. Bought it at a discount sporting goods store for $150. It floats tho, so I'm not complaining. Unless I have to paddle against the current. Then I start cussing myself for buying such a peice of @#&^%$#.
  25. If buying boat insurance as a rider on your homeowners policy, be carefull. A lot of those riders will only cover your boat while it is parked in your garage, not on the water or while being towed.
