  1. I need new glasses. I thought that said "Snot Nosed Brats..."
  2. If asked by a cashier for my zip code, I would give them 90802, which is where I used to live in California. Never had one even blink at being given a strange zip code not from the local listings. Area codes are used to determine where the people are coming from to shop at the store. If corporate sees 1000's of the same area code every day, week, month etc., they will start looking to open a store in that zip code. As for wanting phone numbers, just give them the number to the local sheriff's office.
  3. I fished Pruitt several times last fall/winter and cannot complain about the fishing. Try to stay above Mill Creek if you're wading. Last winter it was announced that there was some major polution in the way of human feces coming from a broken pumping station up at Marble Falls. I don't know if they got it fixed yet. Check with the ranger station there on the south side of the Hwy 7 brdge. I fished off the landing on the north end of the bridge. That road down to the landing can be a pain in the posterior end too. Kind of narrow for 2 way traffic. And don't wander too far from the vehicle. There's been break-ins in the past. They have signs warning about vehicle damage and such at the parking area. I fished the area from the parking area down to Mill Creek. Caught several nice bass in the 14" range and a lot of smaller ones. Lot's of luck, and post your results. I'd like to hear how it's fishing now.
  4. Gonna be kinda hard to float Crooked Creek in that.
  5. Ice jigs tipped with wax worms under a spring loaded pencil float, no weight. The jig will sink slowly, and the float will lay flat on the water. When that float stands up, a fish has taken the bait so set the hook. Been a killer technique in the northwoods (WI) for years.
  6. Itty bitty fines, loss of their boats, freezers etc. ain't enough. They should get at least a year in the state prison for every fish over the limit. String them up by their cajones at the dock and let the public they stole from give them their fair sentence. Anyone for the death penalty?
  7. I still think the best way to go is in bed with a good looking young woman.
  8. You gotta drive 2 1/2 hours to a smallmouth stream? Glad I'm not in your shoes. But actually, smallies are in more waters than trout. Smallies are sometimes even found in trout waters. Just put the size 20's away and break out the 2/0's. Well, ya probably only have to go up to a 6 or so depending on what type of fly it is and what size fish ya wanna catch.
  9. Houston, it looks like we got a poblem...
  10. I read that and thought about joining, but wasn't sure if I could get upt there or not. Still can't make any promises yet, but would be glad to join. I'll look over the info later and get back to you. I'm kinda busy right now trying to fix my mothers computer. Diet Slim Jims???????????
  11. I checked out that Allen webpage and looked at that Alpha reel. From what I could see, it's machined out of aluminum bar stock like most reels, but the machining looked like it could be done a lot better. If I actually held one in my hand, took it apart and looked closely at one, I might change my mind. But I will not buy one sight unseen and hope to get my money back if I'm not satisfied with it.
  12. Ok. Impartial judge, 2 diet Coke's then. You ever float Crooked Creek before? If so, what can we expect?
  13. I'm gonna have to Google that. Maybe I can geet up there on Memorial Day weekend. If your divorce schedule allows, maybe we can fish then. As for using the "long rod" only from November to February, it sounds like you do some steelhead fishing?
  14. Whatever. But I only agree to pay for Cheif's license. As for your fee, don't hold your breath waiting for it.
  15. Kelly's Slab to Yellville is only a few miles. We can do that. No campfires, but should get plenty of time to properly fish. I guess below Yellville, Crooked Creek dries up in the summer. Just keep an eye on the gauges. Right now, it's just over the slab and flowing at about 230 cfs. A bit low for floating maybe, but perfect for wading imo. Like I said, I never floated Crooked Creek. I've only fished at Yellville and the lower access south of Flippin. Let me do some homework on the flows and I'll get back to ya. How far into MO is the James? I don't have a map of MO yet. I need to make a trip up to BassPro one of these days anyway.
  16. Nice fish!! Where were you fishing? (I don't need to know exact GPS coordinates, just body of water.)
  17. Fine. I'll sit up front and you'll just have to watch out for my backcasts. Unless you want to take spinning rods. Do you fly fish? When do you want to do this? I usually have to work M-Th and sometimes on Friday. Going to second shift soon and I don't know my hours then. Where do you want to launch at? Pyatt? Snow? Georges Creek? Kellly's Slab? I've never floated Crooked Creek so I don't know how long it takes to float/fish any given section. I do know that if we would get to a good hole, I'd like to fish it out before moving on. I've heard Kelly's Slab to Yellville is a good float. That may get a litte busy though considering it's most popular. Where do you normally fish up there in MO? What's your favorite target species? PM me and we can hash out the details.
  18. This is the reason most of us use a "username" when posting here. If I felt that I might be able to trust someone after reading their posts here, I might consider pm-ing my contact info to that person. I got a notice from the State of Arkansas Dept. of Finance the other day. Appearantly someone had contacted them asking for info about me using "Choice Point." I thought it was nice of them to let me know someone is checking up on me. Apparantly it was just my Auto Insurance checking my driving record. But how many checks have been made in the past that I was never informed about? And that "Choice Point" is the largest wholesaler of personal info in the country.
  19. Anyhoo... Thanks for the pics. Never knew those "golden rainbow" trout existed 'till now.
  20. A nice thick t-bone would be better on the grill.
  21. I own 3 Ross Cimmarons that I paid about $120 each for. The extra spools cost like $75 each. Smooth drags, quiet, and backed by a company I can trust. I don't think Ross will be out of business next week either.
  22. Not really sure how big they can get. I seen a long nose gar swimming in Bull Shoals several years back that was abut 4 feet long. They don't seem to be as deep bodied as a muskie or a pike tho. They do have a lot of teeth tho. Now Wausau, WI is a familiar place to me. I used to make the drive from Milwaukee to Merrill at least once a year to fish the Wisconsin below that dam there. Real nice smallies in there.
  23. I got a sot kayak. If I can get someone to float Crooked Creek with, I'll gladly buy you a license. (Not an open invite to everyone in the state of MO. I'm not rich.) According to the book "Home Waters" we can get a canoe and shuttle service from a place in Yellville, and launch at Georges Creek and take out at Yellville. When you interested in getting that lesson?
  24. Amen. Best smallmouth fly ever invented. Although a black woolybugger is good too.
  25. Maybe. I'm a cheapskate. Nonresident 3-Day Trip Fishing License (NT3) $11.00 Entitles a nonresident to fish the waters of the state with sport fishing tackle for the three-day period specified. A Nonresident Trout Permit also must be purchased to retain trout or to fish in certain waters.
