We are going to the Lower Illinois River next weekend (Mothers Day). Does anybody know where to find the Shad? Seems the Stripers are soon to be running. We always have a hard time this time of the year finding Shad. Any tips??

We've caught many big Blues with the strip of red meat that comes from the center of a striper.

Hello All, Just joined the site last night. Was excited to see information on the Lower Illinois River. We are Striper Chasers. We love the challenge that the Lower Illinois River offers to their anglers! We also do very well catching big Blue Catfish, below Gore Landing. We live in Norman, Ok. but plan on purchasing land in Gore eventually. We plan our summers at the river and find the river to be beautiful! We are at home when we are there. We are planning our first trip in the 3rd week in May, we'll be looking for White bass running below Gore Landing. we have already reserved several dates for camping this summer, at Gore Landing, our favo-rite place to camp in Gore. We have become close to camp host "Jerry" who welcomed us with open arms into their little community. So excited to find other who love this river.

We are taking our first trip (for the season) to the Lower Illinois River around the 3rd week in May. Does anyone know if the Sand Bass are running yet? We have gone at this time before and caught over 200 white bass. I hope we dont miss this run!
