  1. Well Danny the lumberjack isn't coming so I'll throw the loader on the JD and go out and get a few sticks. If there is any left you can take it up the hill Rich! Loaded the 3 burner up in the basement of the 5er. May have to go to the store for a few supplies once we decide what we are doing.
  2. Looking forward to it. Been tuning up Ellie the Squirrel dog!! So what's the plan for the dinner thing or we don't have to. Hooking up Wednesday morning, headed home Monday PM.
  3. If you did that then upstream wouldn't have a place to fish!!
  4. Your not starting anything, your just stating the obvious because that is what occurred. I agree, there were other stories as well from locals and I suspect that they are a culmination of assumptions that are made. Just like what I have done in the past. Best part is there will be a new Captain at the Helm that will give us the answer. If it gets better then it was the manager. If it doesn't then it was....................?
  5. Looks like it has cleared a little and isn't as filled in as I thought. Still not like a few years ago.
  6. Last year had the pleasure of conversing with an older gentleman that lived down there. He overheard someone fishing and complaining about the size of fish. He turns to me and says (after noticing their 3 fish on stringer) doesn't look like they are too unhappy. We started talking about the fish issue. I kept my big mouth shut and listened. He told me that they have changed the strain of trout to a shorter, faster growing thicker unit. He said people complain about the size based on the length but if they noticed that they were little footballs they might change their attitudes. I tend to agree. They did (last year) seem a little stocky-er. Just a thought.
  7. Still on the limb here. Another extended family member with medical issues, errrrrrrr. We can never catch a break.
  8. Don't know the man, what I do know years ago before his time there were bigger fish, more and larger lunkers, and brown trout were common. I wonder how much actual decision making responsibility he has? Does he have the ability to decide how large the fish are before release? I suspect there is someone in Jeff City that tells him what to do. Just like the switch to weighing fish in a basket to determine how many go to the river. They use to hand count as they culled them through the basket. Not too many shorts got through. Alot of the changes happened back when the "budget crunch" hit. But every year there has been budget issues. Please tell me if he was making the decisions on what and how to release fish he isn't going to be involved in that part of the process again!! Just some random thoughts.
  9. Jerry in my line of work I see way too much of that! I think I will pass!!!! Meth is hard on em!
  10. Whats it's momma look like??
  11. Any beer in the fridge?? Disregard I'll check!
  12. It's on like Donkey Kong!!
  13. Noticed on the trout cam that the stripping hole above the dam has moved around a little. Think I read on another thread that there is a big limb or something in it as well. Anyone out there with the scoop?
  14. IMO Montauk is way more natural than the other 2 mentioned. It will take a little extra time to drive but I would recommend Montauk. I took my wife by there on our way back from Bull Shoals this spring. Had the same problem you do, I wanted to wade but could not due to water levels. She suggested we go to Montauk since she has heard me talk about it so much in the past. I described it to her as Missouri's little "western" trout stream. She agrees and prefers that we travel the extra time now if we are going to a Missouri Trout park. We have to take an extra 2 days to make our stay worth while since we are pulling our 5th wheel. good luck on your excursion!!
  15. Water is looking good on the trout cam. Not dropping a lot which would lead to more stable fishing. Been doing what you do when your dreaming of going, inventory of the flys, going through the 5'er getting things ready, rotate the truck tires get it serviced. Hopefully everything is going to keep progressing ok. My sweety (hates it when I call her "the wife") decided we need to go to Atlanta the nest week to visit my oldest who just re-located again. So I will be heading down hopefully on Wednesday and going back Monday PM. Then blasting off for GA on Wednesday. So, fingers crossed its a go!!
  16. Me too! But as you well know, if the mama ain't happy............. We will see haven't thrown in the towel yet. Have to call Danny and see if he is available as well. Pretty bad when he has been down more than I have this year!
  17. May not have to worry about it. Probably can't make it. DW is P. O'd that I want to go and she can't. So you know how that works!!
  18. Got a text from Jerry, just got home from Montauk hopefully he will post a report. Things are looking better to take off. As soon as I get a confirmation from my boss and my other boss I will let you know. Wings or fish?
  19. Did you get a new phone? If so is it a smart one? Would like to send you pics and stuff!!
  20. You picked my favorite days. I love standing in the stream watching everyone leave. Has a very calming effect on me. That John Deere is a killer down there especially for an 8 year old. It doesn't take a lot of finesse to fish it. With a float they don't get into too much trouble. Pretty much "auto run". Glad to hear the water is coming around, appreciate the report!! Take care over there in Indep MO! Have some buddy's on the P. D. that tell me story's.
  21. We're not!!
  22. Someone found their long lost password!!
  23. Whats the hole just above the arch bridge look like? We use to strip deep there as well but the past few years it hasn't been a very good spot for me. That's not good if it is back filling that close to the dam. Just about time to dredge again!!
