Try living near a large city (KCMO) that looses it's accreditation from the State. Then the Governor tells the bordering districts they must take the kids from that city (KCMO) and the large city must pay for the transportation. Now you have a much greater influx of gangsters, wanna be gangsters, dopers, dealers, car thieves, and other non-law abiding citizens. We live in the suburbs and country/county to get away from that type of ignorance. Those of you that have to bus your children to your rural schools should feel thankful. Your schools are not seeing the rise in assaults, narcotic arrests and overall disrespect in the schools that we are. If my children were going to a suburban school now I would do everything I could to move to the rural environment. Our schools are so bad, there is a SRO (School Resource Officer) in all the schools except elementary. In the elementary there is 1 officer that covers 5. Some of the districts have created their own "Police Department" within the school district. Hiring Missouri Certified officers to work for the Districts rather than a PD. All in all guys if you live in the country you have a much better deal!!!

I agree with Jason except for the rod. Recommend a Cabela's rod if they are close. If you break it or it fails they replace it no questions asked, except which one do you want. I had a TFO, it snapped and I had to pay a replacement fee. I think Cabela rods are decent quality and comparable to TFO.

One of the terms that I have heard repeated by the guys "in the know" was "thread". If you secure the materials with thread and not just placed on, like a twister tail, then your in business. Somewhere the "fly" has to have thread. I guess if you wanted you could take a Palsa (foam) strike indicator and put it just above a hook with thread and it would be legal?? Wonder who would do that? It works especially when they are hitting your indicator. And that's legal!! If you get popped by the Game Warden let me know I am friends with a couple of cracker jack Attorneys that fish down there all the time. They would be glad to help you out, for a small fee of course.

skilch, if you want to get deep and "strip" you don't have to go to a great deal of expense. You can weight your leader 6 to 8 inches above your wooly bugger, crackle back, streamer or whatever you are tossing. It will work fine especially if the water is slow as it has been. Just pitch it out and let the weight take your fly down. Hang on and be prepared as they will take it on the fall sometimes. I strip at BSSP (and haven't been arrested). This year has been tough because of the slow water. I use a full sink line (medium) with a furled fluorocarbon leader and fluorocarbon tippet. You would be better off (imho) this year with low flow using a sink tip line. My setup has caused me to strip faster than I like. The full sink line gives my shoulder a workout. Usually some Ibuprofen is in order.

Yep your right Ness, wasn't thinking about Uncle Sam getting his. Still a sizable chunk of change for 2 hillsides.

Nice videos. Really like your backcast, snag the camera shot. Good thing you felt it and didn't launch the camera across the river. However it may have been a great video!!

I did some research on the new owner at Circle J. Found an article in Timberline Magazine from 2010. Looks like he, his mom (70 ish) and girlfriend run a big logging out fit up north west of Hannibal in Scotland County. Sounds like a pretty straight forward hardworking guy that doesn't take off much to have any R&R, "He tries to take at least three weekends, around the holidays of summer, to travel to the Lake of the Ozarks resort area in the southwestern part of the state." The mag in 2010 said he is owner/operator of a family cattle operation as well. With a $300,000 bill to the Feds and $415,000 debt for the land I doubt he is going to make it into a campground that is lucky to even clear the down payment. Plus no time to enjoy or oversee it!! Having a couple new camping facilities opening in the last couple years down there I can't see what another one will bring to the table that is going to draw the clients? Plus there isn't enough timber left on that property to make any money. This guy isn't into firewood cutting and selling by the cord. This might be interesting to watch!!

I've had rubber legs before at Bennett. I vaguely remember catching some sort of flying insect attacking a pop up camper?? I would love for the Game Wardens to concentrate on nailing guys that fudge the numbers rather than watching for a stimulator with rubber legs.

Just because you have been using them doesn't mean they are legal NoLuck, heck upstream still dabbles his worm in zone 1!! And he swears it's legal. Or is that WalMart??

Sometimes It's Not Really About The Fishing , Right?.... Tr

Thanks, take care of that pooch. I see it in your blog that you treasure your time with him. Your pics of Joe with you and your adventures remind me of the days that Dixie, Junior and Biscuit use to hit it together as well. I know you suffer from this, but most people down at BSSP knew Dixie by name but not me!! They would see my silver Chevy with the crate and ask where she was. Once I lost her people continued to ask and convey their sympathy. Keep it up dude!! Would love to meet Joe some day and get my "dog fix" in. -

Thanks for the blog. Looks like Joe ate pretty good. You might have him try Moose Drool, Big Sky Brewery in Missoula Mt. It's a dark brown unit that I dearly love. Great for setting around the fire after a day on the water!! What was the big ticket fly on the river for you?? I feel the itch to get down as well. -
off the subject Caddis, what kind of Birds do you hunt?? Looks kinda like a crane fly?

Got down to BSSP in CG4, very beautiful all the fall colors, leaves all around, not too many people here yet. Then I hear the distinct sound of a leave blower. Are you fricking kidding me. There is a guy with his leaf blower out cleaning not only his spot but all the neighbors as well. Seriously can't people understand some of the reason people come down is to get away from all that kind of crap!! The boss won't let me deal with it as she thinks I may go off on someone. Probably would. Rant off.

there was something on Charlies facebook page about it. they got a special permit and spent 4 hours down. 3 of which were just to de-compress on the way back. they went further in than anyone else. they are professional underwater cave dudes (also nuts).

Wow, can you say hi-jacked?? Wonder what's happening at Circle J?? Dang Rich you definately "bit" on that one. It’s better to be a conservative “nut” than a liberal with no nut’s and no job!

If social chairman goes it won't be for me. I can fish but have to entertain her. She is just getting in to it and I don't want to freak her out. She doesn't fish, just likes to hang out at the trailer and read, work, nap, etc. while I fish. We will see.

Ahh a teacher. Should have known. Been married to one most of my life, can spot one a mile off. Why don't you get on the Administrative bandwagon like all the others and get your Doctorite?? (Sore subject in my house). If you do it right you can have it done before your 30 yoa. Then jump into Admin and tell eveyone that has more years of tenure than you are old how to do it!!!! That's where the big $$'s are, 80 and out!! Rant off. Good luck. My youngest went into Elementary Ed like her momma. She didn't learn from all her storys. Happy she went that way rather than mine.

Information & Planning Meeting Oct 10

If you all remember back a few years ago we couldn't get a cell signal......ahhhh those were the days. And I use to complain that I couldn't get a signal. Kick myself in the rear. When the cell towers came in so did all the other change. As far as getting away from it all, when I go to BSSP it is like going to the City for me and Danny. I live in the woods, nothing but Hickory trees and deer. A few neighbors (some pSSX me off) but not too many. Danny (my cuz) he lives on the old farm that I grew up on and has hundreds of acres to jack with. For us it is usually crowded. Sometimes we will catch it right during the week. Upstream don't waste your time on RRSP. That is one place I will never go back to. Fished it during my college years when I was going to school down that way. Went a few years ago on the way back from Santa Fe. Have no desire to return. Montauk is the best, just a little too far for 3 day trip. -

It's all about the Benjamins!! But if you think about it they wouldn't make enough money to buy gas for a weedeater if they were relying on us to pay the bills. The guys I usually fish with only spend $3.00 a day at the park. We all tie our own flys, every once in a while buy a spool of tippett. The big money is with the family units. -
Good for you Ryno. Once you get your Grad degree where does that take you? Am interested in the results as well.

May have to bite the bullet and just make the extra hour run to Montauk. Or just another 30 or so to Taney. I hate bailing on BSSP but they are pushing me out!! Since they are putting in more Cabins wonder if they have considered about adding another Park Ranger............NOT! The State is just like local Law Enforcement, they put the cart before the horse. Make changes then tell us we have to make it work!!! Just keep piling it on the top. Only one guy I know that doesn't have that problem is NoLuck, he just "blasts" his way out!! -
What's the focus of the survey? What is your graduate degree??

Looks like Karen and I are headed down the 22nd for a few days. CG 4 was full except for a couple handicapped units and 1 on the east side. Been tying some foam wings on a 20 or 22 can't remember. Rust, P&P, Olive, Gray and Black. Can't tie very long as it makes my eyes get crossed. This bigger trailer is a little more selective about where it likes to land. That will be it for a while, with the inability to forcast the weather very well I may have to get the winterizing done pretty quick.
